Default Anne Arundel Co. P.D.

Well I've decided to switch careers and was looking for any pointers. Im currently processing for the Anne Arundel Co Police Department. Wasn't to sure if anyone one here is an Officer for Anne Arundel and might be able to give me some pointers. So far I've passed the Written, and Agility Test. I had my Oral Panel Interview on Tuesday and awaiting the results. Any pointers from Officers would be helpful also; thanks!

If you failed the oral test they should have called you and let you know.
That is, if they already handed you out the family/friends/life background package you need to have filled out, They call you so you don't waste your time filling it out only to be told you failed.

AA county is a great county for police, only problem is the pay sucks. 37K starting, most officers will tell you that you can make bank being an officer and it's true, however you need to put in major over time in order to get that money.

AA is a good start, but if you have your degree, the Feds are the way to go! Pay raise every year, awesome health bennies, locality pay and some training and travel unmatched.

Thanks! Yes, I went to my interview on Tuesday and got the Background package. Then I did my agility yesterday though haven't heard from them yet. They told me it would be 7-10 days to find out if I passed the interview. I was hoping they would call before I filled out that packet. Though no word yet and halfway done the packet. Im just suprised it has to be back in within 7days errr hehe. According to the info we receive pay just got bumped in July to 40K (don't quote me cause its not right in front of me). Thats fine though; the money is obviously not my reasoning for switching as I'll be taking a pretty heavy pay cut.

As for the handling... no clue maybe I'll grab a ride along with an officer that might want to show me how well they handle and then compare .

Which Fed's department? I did look into the Secret Service. Though I don't have a deg the Uniformed Division is hiring, but they don't tell you anything about the pay...
