Since I'm one of the few local auto guys I may be interested... Sad to say, but what does it do exactly? I'm not running FI but will be running nitrous shortly.

Even though its gone, could someone tell me what it does? From what I saw, it shortens the gear ratio? I'm so confused.

^ better acceleration with "taller" (3.5, 3.7, 3.9, 4.10) gears, 3.3 ("longer") into a boosted 6MT gives you better use of the powerband (in certain cases)

Driven1, appointment is scheduled for 10/13/07 at Functiontuned.

Thanks again, can't wait to see how much of a diffrence this will make at the track.

Hmm I'll have to look into this once I get the rest of the mods I want first. Thanks for the explanation.

FYI:

Thanks to Functiontuned Dave & Juan for the butt-crack of dawn early install. I can really tell the diffrence down low first, second, and third gear acceleration has been improved.

Big thanks to Ahn (abui01 congrats Ahn, I will keep my mouth shut!) for the JIC Y-pipe and a smoking deal on it! I really needed that since another area shop recently let me down

Would you be faster in the 1/4 if you had the 3.91 gears in your car? Only downside is shifting 5 times.

(was referring to slicks where traction is not an issue) for example, pro-stock drag cars have 5 speeds and run through all the gears by the end of the 1/4.

You answered your own question, those are drag cars, we have street cars. I know you meant with slicks, my car with slicks (same traction) and a 3.3 or 3.9FD it would be much quicker with the 3.3, because the 3.9 would cause me to add a shift which adds time no matter how good you are, in race gas it may even need to go into 6th and thats just silly because its an overdriven gear. Also, pro-stock drag cars are geared to finish 5th (1:1) at peak power, its how they are set-up, we dont have that luxury.
