You might be able to get into the park at a lower rate instead of the $15.00 1 through7 day pass. In either case hope you have fun this weekend.
I contacted the park about a Spring 2007 cruise. I received a package that was filled will bureaucratic jargon, and next to impossible to comprehend. My interpretation of the rules is that you need a permit if you are going to be using a facility such as a camping area. Then you must submit an itinerary of the days activities, and a parking plan. The permit is several hundred dollars plus an hourly charge for clean-up. Although we are a group, we will be traveling through the park, not using park facilities.

Ok not trying to be rude here, but it is a National Park run by the National Park Service, the $15 entrence fee goes to the upkeep of Shenandoah National Park (it's there for our enjoyment). It was constructed back during the depression by the CCC as a way to have a national park closer to those living on the east coast; and as a way to provide work for young men. I know I know we didn't always have airplanes and interstates. As long as you aren't doing things you'er not suppose to such as passing on a double yellow, speeding, peeling out of the entrance station or feeding the wildlife chances are you'll be fine. Yes, the Park Police will be out. Keep in mind that all the leaf lookers are out and it'll probably be crowded. The earlier you arrive the better (less of a line to wait in). Again hope you all have a blast on the drive and maybe I'll see you coming into the park!
