Fall 2007 Skyline Drive Cruise!
Its that time of year again boys and girls.
Due to drought conditions this year, the leaves are going to turn early, and prolly' not last that long, so we need to start planning some dates here soon..
Peak Foliage will more than likely be mid to late october.. I'm hoping that we can plan for a Nov. 3 (with Nov 4th as a rain date).
I'm open to suggestions though.. a weekend day in Oct. may be better for more quality leaves, but there will be far more tourists on the road.
Anything later than Nov 3rd, and we will not see the beauty of the park in its fall diggs.
Soooo..
All this interested in a Nov. 3rd Skyline Drive meet.. .. something sooner?
(Sorry David.. I beat you to this)
The usual meeting spot in manassas (Bob Evans)

Skyline Drive is a 105-mile road that winds along the crest of the mountains through the length of the Shenandoah National Park. The cruise provides vistas of the spectacular landscape to the east and west.

We’ll meet at Bob Evans Restaurant in Manassas at 10:00. The restaurant is just off of I66. We depart at 11:00 for a leisurely caravan to Front Royal - the north entrance to Shenandoah National Park.

Dinner will be at Big Meadows Wayside (about 51 miles south of the entrance). The Wayside houses a full-service dining room with carryout service and offers a varied menu of regional favorites and contemporary food.

ARRRRHHHHH! I am never going to make this cruise - soccer tournament. My season does not end until after 11/4.

It has always landed on a booked day for me, regardless of the advance notice........

Alrighty, I am from NJ. I just went up and did the North East Mountain run through Mass and Vermont. It was a BLAST! I just have a few questions. How far or deep do you go into the park? do you cover the whole 105 miles? The NE mtn run we coverd well over 100 miles. Also about how many people do the event? There was between 40-50 for the NE mtn run. Anyone have good exp with this run?
thanks in advance!

This is more of a cruise, and very rare "romp".
Count me in. This is always a great time in the season to go meet people and talk Z's and G's while going for a sweet cruise for some good pic's/vid's.
Just watch out for good ole Route 211, those damn copers are in between those big berms in between the divided highway, I can attest to this along with another Z on this forum.......

Count me in always. We can go on the 3rd and 4th for when Albeezie comes back from Vegas....
Maybe the 4th could be a more spirited, smaller crew. lol
My "late night run" is similar to Skyline Drive, but without the law and huge elevation. There are hills and such, but nothing is like Skyline Drive and Tail of the Dragon!
