Nismo stock exhaust
I just wanted to ask you guys would you take off the nismo stock 2.5 exhaust for a 3'' AAM exhaust I was told by a friend of mine that it would not make much of difference so i thought I would ask the more experienced.I put test pipes on my stock exhaust and dynoed 8 more whp so would i gain a whole lot more to make it worth the money that ill pay for the exhaust.
dont do it!! Dont ruin your Nismo Z like that. At most I would do is try to find a Nismo Mid pipe and an aftermarket Y pipe and put it on your car. Keepthe rear muffler section.
This is Jon btw. The one with the Blue Z you see around

whats up john did not see you last week thats what i was thinking but you know im just trying to get more power without voiding my warranty with a turbo or supercharger I appreciate your advice.
When you put on the y pipe does it make the car sound raspy because I was scared to do test pipes but I am inpressed with it so I really dont want to get a whole lot louder.

he has an 07 nismo Z! I have to admit the AAM y pipe is pretty nice. I would suggest that y pipe and I heard tanabe is decent??theres a few out there. And if you can find a Nismo mid pipe,I think that would finish out your exhaust package.
If you dont want turbo or supercharger, I also suggest new final drive gear sets. Look in the drivetrain section in the forums and there is a lot of read about it.

You have an 07 Nismo? Keep that Nismo Exhaust, I am not impressed with the 3" AAM exhaust at all. Looks like a high school auto tech student welded it. Besides a 3" is over kill for a stock Z.
Infact, keep all your stock nismo parts, even if you decede to change something, that car is a collectors item.

We hired a new Welder/Fabricator about six months ago and we just recently aquired new welding equipment. If you get a chance you should check out some of our new exhaust products he's produced in the last 4 months- he tigs everything to perfection!
Whats up Tailsnismo! Either way you cant lose on the 3" or the Y-pipe.
I have the Tanabe Y pipe with TPs. It's raspy at about 3K and starts to go away after that. The rasp is created by the TPs. The Y pipe will make your exhaust a little louder and add a few more horse power. Although the Tanabe Y pipe is a little pricey it's very good quality.

+1
Keep your Nismo dude, you aren't gonna gain much from a 3 inch exhaust.
The stock Nismo is perfect for a N/A Z. If you go F/I then thats a different story as you will need higher flow which in that case the 3" inch exhaust would suit your needs. I had 3" exhaust on my 06 didnt notice much aside from it being loud as all hell, trust me keep the 2.5" inch piping.
I gained 26 HP at the wheels switching to a AAM 3" Ti exhaust over a 2.5" single to dual that I had, it sounds absolutely amazing and looks great!
Off topic, RED ROCKET on the forum has an s2k he also went 3" single even with all the hype over duals and made 218whp with that and a test pipe. (30 more than the next closest N/A s2k at a recent P-tuning dyno day)
Dont always believe what you hear. Supra guys have been using 3, 3.5, and 4" singles for years and years. Less exhaust turbulence (found with singe to dual, not true dual) equals more powaaaa. It's really up to you and your personal prefrence man.
My exhaust mods are Strup TP's, JIC Y-pipe, AAM 3" TI resonated exhaust.
The new welder is really good, my exhaust looks like a robot welded it man it's awesome and was complimented by another exhaust shop up here while i was having a flex joint replaced on my old Y-pipe.

26whp^^LMAO on what crack head dyno? If you believe that I'll sell you a flux capictor!
OP-keep the Nismo, not worth switching out exhausts NA they are all very close in performance the differences bewteen the TD's and y-pipe/3" is the shape of the TQ curves.

LOL your crazy about dyno's like me Alberto... I have never ever had my car on anything but Functiontuned's DynoDynamics and I have the before and after charts. 226whp to 249whp Shootout mode

Oh geez-here we go again...I'll tell you what, in an attempt to keep the dyno arguing and possibly have people think Im bashing Dave (I am NOT-he is a trustworthy person/shop) call him and ask him why his dyno was reading all weird. I have already posted my findings and it turned out to be true-that is that those dyno's were not accurate. PM him or call him he's an honest guy he'll tell you why.
I gained 23whp from stock to all the bolt-ons + a tune, no way in hell unless pigs are flying would you gain 26whp with just an exhaust.

I would glady Dyno again but I have changed out my Y-pipe, intake, and final drive; not sure if that will influence the numbers. I could honestly feel the diffrence in the car itself over the last exhaust just on the way home. I saw some numbers from earlier in the day (on the dyno day where some non HR g's were doing like 280whp + with bolt ons LOL) that I personally didn't agree with. I dyno'ed later in the day and was pretty much exactly where I predicted (250whp) as were a handful of other Z and G's all in the 250 range with minor bolt on's.
Not arguing, just my POV as you are pretty knowledgeable yourself and quick to call BS
I will be going prochager verrrry soon and I will compare my base to the last chart from the dyno day and see where I stand. Correction FTL
OP sorry for the 'jack, Alberto PM me anytime man

I know your not arguing, Im not either. For a short time-around that dyno day to be exact Id throw everything out the window. Again-not a bash at F2nd or Dave I know him personally and we have even discussed this ourselves-along with many other people. And yes, your mods would affect your numbers now.
