What is this fun run you are talking about and how do you sign up for it?

http://www.hyper-fest.com/events/hyperDrives.html

Here's the link with info. The only draw back is it's on the Jefferson Circuit not the main track. They also usally have the "fun runs" on the main track but I didn't see anyhting on the site for that?

Yeah, I didn't see the Fun Runs this year either...but the have the shotgun ride-alongs still Those are pretty cool. But in talking to Chris, who is an event planner for H-Fest, he mentioned a game where you have to climb in to one of those moon bounce things and try to put on a racing suit. The only catch is, you have to do it while standing, AND while the "Girls of Hyper-Fest" are bouncing around in there with you. Sounds like fun. But all I'm really interested in is the Rice-Rice Challenge.

Talking

Just checked the website and I signed up for two sessions. They are called hyperdrives and are $40 per session. They have an instructor in the car with you to give you tips. I am definitely looking forward to it now!

I think Hyper-fest is the best event of the year for this area. It's an all day blast! The shotgun ride alongs look like fun too, old cop cars that they take out on the track and beat the h**l out of.

[QUOTE=DROPPEDIT2WCE]Make sure to check out the LS1 350z from JE making it's debut. (cats out of the bag!)

LS1 350Z sounds pretty sweet. I would still take the RB26 240sx over that. I'm too die hard Nissan to put a chevy engine in their. Now a Titan V8 you might be on to something. The idea of 80 year old technology push rod engines is a turn off for me. GM need to get to the 21st century, Ford has had OHV for years.

Ford has also been the weaker of the two for many years

LS1 is simply a beast with very minor modification and cost. def. not 80yr old technology, if it was a 383 stroker or something that would be kinda pointless.

Chevy motors in Nissan is a sacrelig. I have to agree with Matt on this one...make it a 560Z! I would even say a 450Z would be amazing. Do that, and get a couple of turbo's shoe-horned in there. Next thing you know, we'll have people putting a cummins in a Z. The guy who does that gets smacked with a frozen salmon.

It STILL uses push rods. Same set-up used in the orignal chevy small block. The heads are STILL only 2 valve heads. The 240sx crowd has been doing LS1 swaps awhile and I just don't see the point. My take on this is the same as I look at the KA Vs. SR debate in the 240sx world. Sure the SR (LS1) makes more power form the start. But you can add power to the KA (VQ) and make alot more power then the SR (LS1) for the same if not less money. So you pay $10K+ for a LS1 swap and make sub 400 WHP, or you can put a Greddy TT kit on the VQ and make that at low boost setting. I'm just not a fan of taking out something that work's good and spending alot of money to put something else in that is no better. Mr.K would not approve of this LOL.

I agree with not putting the LS1 in, but I think a good argument for the SR20 is that it's the Silvia motor.

But this is getting WAY off topic.

Come cheer on my team at the Rice-Rice Challenge at Hyper-Fest!

Well the LS1 is lighter than the VQ and has proven more reliable... the Sr20 would promote near 50/50 weight distribution but squeezing 450+ out of it is a total waste of money and the TQ will still be lacking and or disappointing (plenty to drift and go fast, just not in the same leauge as the LS). at this point you may as well consider an RB series

an LS1 swap may be $10k, so is a Greddy TT installed and tuned, and I'm sure an SR20 swap with suitable power would be the same or more. The best option (for someone going outside the box) would be an LS2 with heads/cams for near 500hp and NO ONE has remembered the transmission issue.... the T56 trans is damn near indestructable. Can you say that about the Z trans? NO!

FYi the LS1 failed on its test run at HIN drift demo

do I still want one? Hell YESSSSS

and I do not mean to take away from the VQ for any reason as Nissan has been in the top ten with VQ series engines for many many years, it's just an "outside of the box" option.

Oh.. well.. that can happen.. It sounded great. I think that this will be the way that I go instead of boost.

LS1 + boost.... Now that would be interesting. My freind is building a 68+/- convertable Firebird with a twin turbo LS1. That thing is going to be mean. With a small pair of Super 60 T3's low end power is going to be sick! DROPPEDIT2WCE T56 FTMW!!! I've looked into a T56 conversion for my 240sx. Mike i'll see you at Hyper-fest. I'll be showing the 240sx stop by and we can talk

Miata engine in a RX7 I can see that. Those spinning triangles always fall apart LOL.
