Thumbs up Mom and pop pro shops

I just got some some new parts in the mail recently and i was wondering if anyone knows of a reputable shop that can install some cams? I know there is function tuned and AAM but are there any more in the DMV area? I called one shop today and the price for the install of some cams was a bit out of my ball park. Any suggestion? Even if someone here on the forum has a knowledge of how to install them I'll compensate you and we can do it together.

Thanks

Jon

PS. I also have some rims i would like to get some dents out of anyone know someone in the area who works on those to?

I think it will take alot longer the 4-5 hr's to do cams especially if your doing valve springs also. Compressing springs in the car is a pain in the a**. To do cams you need to remove the front cover and all the timing chains, tensioners, etc... then do everything to get to the cams and then re-time everything. I could see charging 10+/- hr's for cams. I would check out JE they have been doing Nissans longer then anyone else in the area. Buy some Motul from Nick while your their!!

I don't know.... have you seen how easy the Z comes apart, you could easily have the engine out and on a stand in less than 1hr. The whole front bumper and support takes 15min to come off in the dark with no thumbs. From there some focus and that bish should be apart in no time.

Just venting a little because I want to do cams but don't want to pay an outrageous price for labor (or do it myself LOL)

give elite a call at 301-604-5004. wheelrefinishers.com can pick up your wheels and drop them off for you and all takes about 3 days

I could see an experienced tech getting it done in 5+ hours but most shops charge a flat rate for jobs. That way if the tech takes 2 days to do the job (I've seen) you don't have a bill for 20+ hours that most tech's could do in 10 ish hours. Just make sure where ever it goes if they quote you a lower price then what seems normal they stick to it and not do a bait and switch and you end up with a bill twice what you were quoted. In my years of dealership and aftermarket experience I've seen this plenty of times. I know someone that might have time to do it on the side if you don't mind going to P.A. PM me.

I hear ya man i'm all about to do it yourself on some things but I realize that anything with the engine's internals ot tunning I cant really do myself. I was joking earlier and I put in a post for all the stuff I would like to do with my car, I make out just going to UTI and learning how to do it myself
