I hate insurance companies. They **** you on any repairs to your car. The only thing they are good for is if someone is trying to sue you after an accident. You pretty much have to cover repairs on your own if you want decent quality and not junk refurbished oem parts.

Your insurance estimator .. or theirs?

You 'd be surprised at how much peace of mind costs.. to me.. its that little extra I pay my insurance company each month to KNOW that my car, and all its after market parts are indeed covered.

Oh.. and .. I'm sorry that this happened Ethan!! I love your front bumper

It was MY insurance company. They gave me a really low estimate because that's how much my own insurance company would pay if it's my fault. I'm still waiting for the insurance company of the person at fault to contact me to give me theirs. Now that one's gonna be SERIOUS. I'm gonna have all the aftermarket prices ready in hand to argue big time with him/her. My stupid insurance company said my front bumper's repairable when there are like 3 foot long cracks and a bunch of spider cracks. He's such a joke..

insurance companies are there to make money, not pay money to their customers to fix their cars up to standard.

Not an insurance agent, but I did have a recent experience with my insurance company to fix my car. During the process, I found out that they try to screw you every step of the way and give you the lowest estimate possible.

Ethan, just be like Abui01 and have an extra set of bumpers and side skirts handy in case something happens to your body.

Same thing happened to me where the estimator said my front bumper and side panels were "repairable" (which is total BS). My reasoning was, why should I get "punished" and settle for a REPAIR when my car was in mint condition before the accident and it wasn't even my fault?! He finally changed his mind and changed it to replacement. It still only came out to 2k. After it was all said and done, the shop that did my car made them pay 4.4k, double what they estimated. I guess you could work something out with the shop to argue for you. They are in a much stronger position than you are to argue the cost of things.

If your insurance company wants to repair a 3ft long crack on fiberglass... WELCOME IT!! Holy hell... do you know how much it COSTS to repair something like that??! hahahahaha, they'll regret even offering to repair it since the end product will cost more than the bumper itself...what retards.

he could get a quote from a shop on how much it takes to get fiberglass repaired and then put the money toward a new body kit?

ethan, i think the insurance guys come over and they judge your aftermarket parts based on how many bowls of rice your kit is worth then they go from there.

I can tell you that this:

was deemed 'unrepairable' by my insurance, and they decided to replace it.
They issued me a check for the replacement cost of an INGs front.

Can it be repaired .. yes.. but not for the cost of the bumper.

I had Geico and I had $50,000 dollars in customization and when my front bumper got messed up (check the thread I made awhile back) I filed a claim with geico and I had to pay my deductible and they fixed it.

How does it work? Do you just tell them to add $50,000 of customization to your insurance policy or you have to tell them the specific like 10,000 customization goes to front bumper, $5000 goes to the gigantic wing, etc, etc?
