Default Routine Mechanic Recommendation

I'm looking for a good, trustworthy, reasonably priced mechanic in the DC metro area to take care of my car for routine maintenance and non-warranty issues. Right now I'm feeling as if my car is holding back a little bit as I accelerate. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the new wheels (my "slip" light has been coming on randomly and I know that's the wheels) but something is definitely different and I wanted someone other than the dealership to take a look at it.

American Lube on Route 50...

please do a search for this information (on this forum)...someone will yell at you for making a post that already exist.

Good luck.

Also turn off the VDC and the slip light never comes on...however your car spins and will spin out if you dont know what you are doing...

be careful if you turn it off!!!!

Last guy ended up in a ditch just a few miles from first turning it off!

Those BBS are much lighter than stock, thus the car is going to feel a little lighter on its feet. I would think with less rotating mass, the easier it would be to break traction, esp if the tires are cold. Those wheels are feather weights. VDC off FTW

Any and all Z routine maintenance -- Function:Tuned

Justin is right -> J & D Auto Services is good too!!! DANNY FTW

Danny is definitely a good man. No question there. I'm sure there is no real issue but its just useful to have someone to go to if one emerges.

Diagnosing VDC or TCS is not a job for a regular mechanic.

BTW what size are the tires?

I did some research on the wheel issue and I think I might have to change the tire size. The mechanic question was for general issues not specifically the wheel. I really like the wheels and don't even know if they're a problem.

245/40/18
275/35/18

FT has pretty good hourly rates, plus unlike most places, he does almost all Z work.

The front tires are taller than the rear. This is not good.

Anybody has a pic of their car with either 245/35 upfront or 275/40 in the rear? Based on what Ive read on the boards it seems like I can replace the front or the rear to bring them in line. I wanted to see if I have a visual preference. My car is not lowered. I'm trying to not make this thing evolve into more of a pain in the *** than it already is. Okay, I'm headed home in the rain. The "slip" light will probably have a field day.
