Can they stop you for 5 over?

How come 5 over gave you 4 points?????

There is something wrong on that statement

yeah, I agree

I always thought 5-10 over was considered okay/normal

Most places it is. But technically 1mph over is breaking the law and you can be given a ticket. In Fairfax Co. its likely to happen too.

it is considered normal to everyone...even cops...but it's also considered illegal..and when a cop wants to be a dick, a cop is going to be a dick. and also the judge should toss a 5mph hour thing out, unless it's an old crotchety judge.

but also, if it's 5mph over, in a residential/school zone and the cop says you were "endangering" lives, you're ****ed.

Around here you have to go at least 5-10 over, or else you will be run off the road by all the nova drivers. ffx parkway for example, I'm always on the right lane doing 58-60, and people are still tailing my *** hinting me to speed up, but after 11 tickets in 2007 and being put on driving probation, I really have no choice but to drive like a granny

Well it did and i had to take a driver improvement course to shave off some points. the worst part is that this was on georgetown pike where the speed limit suddenly drops from 40 to 25 and i knew the cop was there (i drove by a few minutes earlier). i guess i didnt slow down as much as i should of, but still 5 over is kinda ridiculous...

i also got pulled over last year in reston on my way to the hospital after my grandfather was rushed to the emergency room. explained the situation to the cop and he didnt care at all. he thought i didnt want to pay for a damn ticket and took his sweet time issuing the summon. i actually thought of driving away, i was so pumped from adrenalin i just really didnt care. Oh yea, and the ticket was for an expired registration.

i can understand that there really isnt much crime in the area and that most of our police department's focus is on traffic violations, but there is absolutely no leniency whatsoever... unless you're a great falls milf.

I work in the SAIC Towers in Falls church and as i was leaving my parking garage onto Seminary Road, i saw 2 bike officers on the right hand lane. pulling people over left and right. As i approaced all the cars had to drive slow because the 2 idiot cops decided to occupy one of the main lanes(2 lane road) well as i approached Seminary to take a right turn. a Green Jeep Cherokee was driving behind a pack of cars. All the cars were going maybe 10-15 mphs. When the Jeep came near the officer he motioned her to the right and the only thing i can see why she was pulled was for no front tags.

About 1 1/2 months ago i was driving to work and i didn't have my front tags on my truck. I was doing the speed limit, i don't have anything that would get me pulled over except for the front tag. I have driven in the past like this with no problem. But sure enough FFX decided to agressively issue tickets that very day and i would have paid 110 dollars out of my pocket. So i went to court and got it thrown out.

I bet he was hiding behind the tree near the Fire Station

My friends and I drove through there once and we were going 10mph (pure coincidence, driving slow looking for lots to drift in) and spotted him. They usually hide in that little corner when the speed automatically drops from 45 to 25.

Coming home from HIN on Sat. night I decided to take 495, to rt. 7 (thru tysons) Randy is following me in my Versa. The second we turn onto rt. 7, a FFX cop starts tailing me. Just as the cop starts to edge in to pull behind me... Randy (being smart) pulls my versa just a little closer to the back of my Z as we did the speed limit down Rt 7. Mind you, he did not tailgate, he just removed the room the cop needed to whip behind me. Cop tailed us for a few lights, saw a car speeding going the opposite direction and flipped a u-turn.

I hate FFX.
