I don't know about you, but I don't know many people that drift Corvette's.

I think they cite the corvette because the majority of readers know what it is, and that its fast, powerful, and rwd, and is appropriate for drifting. If my mom read this article and they mentioned a 240sx or AE86, she would have no clue what they were talking about.
