Good reading C5 - It certainly reaffirms many of the thoughts I already had about the candidates positions. The word Neo-con kept popping up in McCains article - scares the shiit out of me.

Outfoxed once again. I notice that at my job more people watch fox news than ever to find out what is going on in the world. News columist like Hanity and O'reily (when fact checked) report errounous news that people believe are fact. When the Jermiah Wright incident happen it was 10 sec clips of him on tv 24 hrs a day on Fox News. I can't wait until tues Obama/Biden win, I wanna see if how Fox news tries to spin that or will they do like 2000 and just automatically announce Bush winning. I love watching Foxs News also when they skew polls in McCain and Palins favor.

yea Kristol and Kagan along with the whole "benevolent hegemony" concept have really become un-popular in many circles..

I read this before and it's relatively the same. I am a law abiding citizen and like my semi-automatic weapons BUT Obama thinks they should be banned. "Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions

* Principles that Obama supports on gun issues:Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.
* Increase state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.
* Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms."

I agree with the last two bullets but not the first one. Buy your guns now because you won't be able to defend yourself later.

Well I have read the reviews and also I do not watch CNN/Fox as I am outside the country. The news in Australia, and to some extent BBC World News are portraying Obama as more and more of a behind the scenes sneaky, conniving kind of guy. Pretty much saying he has been planning this run ever since he got into Office in IL and has been working to cull favours ever since.

I am not saying that makes him a bad guy, as all politicians are this way, but don't believe the 'folksy' persona he portrays. He is as calculating and manipulative as any politician and once elected you will see his true colors (again like any politician, they promise whatever it takes and make deals for whatever they have to get into office, then see how it benefits them to fulfill those promises.)

Anyway, I would prefer to vote McCain, but his choice for VP was just plain stupid...

As for Obama, if he gets elected I would expect his security to be more then doubled and we will be hearing more and more about attempts on his life. Unfortunately there are still a # of stupid people in this country that will be very upset at having a black president and will do some pretty drastic things. I can only hope no one succeeds as they would plunge the country into complete chaos and rioting.

Oh, and I apologize if my tax bracket does put me into the category that cares, but I see no way Obama can pay for all of the things he has promised to deliver without increasing taxes...

As a closing note, I feel for whoever does get elected for this next term because he is inheriting a load of crap and will be fighting to just keep his head above water for the first 4 years. Good Luck to whoever wins, as I would NEVER want that job, especially for what it pays..

Corporate Socialism is running wild right now and who is in charge? Oh, that's right, there is a Repub in the White House. If you believe that all this happened in the last two years with the Dems controlling the house only, you are kidding yourself.

Please do some research or visit the P/W section for a primer on the truth.

NRA Claim: "Expand the Clinton Semi-Auto Weapons Ban to Include Millions More Firearms"

Partly true: The NRA refers here to the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, which was put in place during former President Bill Clinton's administration. Title XI of the legislation spoke directly to regulations on assault weapons. The law outlawed the semi-automatic versions of 19 kinds of military-style assault weapons, but it expired in 2004. The "assault weapon ban" was always a misnomer, however. Fully automatic weapons – like the military assault rifle carried on battlefields – had always been illegal to own without a very hard-to-obtain federal license, under legislation going back to the days of Al Capone. They remain so today.

Nevertheless, Obama called the ban a "common sense gun law" and favors bringing it back on a permanent basis. Obama's "Urban Policy" fact sheet says he "supports making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets."

As recently as Aug. 28, when accepting his party's nomination at the Democratic National Convention, Obama said, "The reality of gun ownership may be different for hunters in rural Ohio than for those plagued by gang-violence in Cleveland, but don't tell me we can't uphold the Second Amendment while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals."

Obama's policy statement doesn't mention any expansion of the expired ban, however. We're not sure where the NRA gets its claim that "millions" of additional weapons would be covered.

Did you know that Baltimore has recently had the highest murder per capita rate in the country? Maybe a little more gun control would help, but you may feel that if everyone had guns it would be more secure. I wonder who would shoot first, a criminal or an average citizen?

Oh, and I apologize if my tax bracket does put me into the category that cares, but I see no way Obama can pay for all of the things he has promised to deliver without increasing taxes...
I can respect anyone who is truly in that bracket as they have a vested interest in this policy. I think there are a few in the Mid-A.

Hmmm, I think some of you are in for a rude awakening if you think the Next President (in this case Obama) is going to magically turn this country around in the next 4 years.

With Harry Reid and Nanci Pelosi as the head of the Senate and Congress I don't see electing the most liberal Dem in the Senate as a good thing. Talk about an increase in useless programs and increasing our already HUGE budget deficit thanks to Bush who couldn't find a spending bill he would NOT sign.

Increasing taxes on ANYONE right now would be the most bone headed decision one could make. We can't tax our way out of this crisis. It's time for our government to STOP wasteful spending.

Oh yeah, in other news the Dow Jones has Tumbled almost 1000 points int the past two days since the election ended.

the economy is going to continue to fluctuate untill the 55 trillion dollars in credit default swaps are auctioned of... which is what has been causing the uncertainty in the market for the last month... untill that happens the futures on several commodites such as oil will continue to remain very low..and both the real economy and wall street will feel it
( although now that Saudi has announced they are cutting oil production, gas prices may increase a bit..)
