Default My First Time...Feeling Boost!

Do you remember the first time that you ever felt the push-you-back-in-your-seat feeling of boost in a vehicle or on a bike?
Yes, airplanes have big *** turbines but thats not the feeling I'm referring to. I am talking about an in car experience where you were passenger and the driver looks over and says "Ready?" you lock your arms to the sides of the seats, armrest or door handle; you feel your elbows lock into place as if you are about to BLAST OFF into some abyss of a lighted road way, highway or emptiness of the non-lit road ahead of you.

Still preparing yourself for what is to come. you feel your jaw clench, the skin surrounding your knuckles stretch and the blood rush from your arms and legs to where its needed most: the anticipation of your beating heart.
Your eyes begin to scan the road ahead. they bounce back and forth, darting between the gauges, the road, the driver's hand on the shift **** and back to the road. you wonder if this is legal. is this safe?

Your heart rate increases, its getting a little harder to swallow now and you only wish you had a water bottle nearby right before...
BOOOOOST! the gas pedal is to the floor! from 1st gear you throw your head back, your eyes widen and the world seems to zoom by you. you get thrown forward for only a glimpse as the driver goes from clutch in, 2nd gear, clutch out. they do not care if this is going to be a comfortable ride or not, they let the clutch fly out and bite with gripping force unknown to the power of man's hand. 2nd gear, the tires are still ripping asphalt like it is going out of style. you now know the meaning of torque! again you are slammed back into your seat. you have a split second to check the revolutions on the tachometer as they climb from 4500 to...whatever! they just dont seem to stop from where you are! the red line is invisible and its as if the needle has NO BOUNDARIES! its climbing and climbing and ohhh SHIFT! clutch in, 3rd gear, clutch out.

the tires chirp into 3rd gear and you're only concern is to make sure this never ends. by the top of 3rd gear you are nearly at 100 miles per hour. triple digits. triple threat. 3rd gear is a long journey as you hear the engine getting louder, panting harder and the suction of a turbine with its whistling and the roaring tone of the exhaust. the road is catching up to you know but you are on a mission to outrun it and outrun the feeling of normality. top of 3rd gear and you know whats coming...

beginning of 4th, you start to feel like you are used to this. your ninja death grip starts to ease and your vision has settled. you actually have time to blink. you take one breath and look to your left and see what the speedometer says...one hundred and WHAT?!?!?!?
you slam yourself back and only pray you make it out alive.

as the ride slows down, the rev matches are heard and the feeling of the exhaust tone get deeper and deeper toward idle let you know the ride of a lifetime is almost coming to an end.

the driver looks as you and sees your exasperated expression and look of discoloration as the blood finds its way from the heart to the rest of the body.

a small laugh from you of discomfort, awe and nervousness as the driver looks to you and says, "Was that awesome or what?"

Sincerely,
Adam Z

wow, epic write up!

i know what you mean tho, i remember my first experiences. I was in Highschool and my friend had a camaro...it was fast compared to anything ive ever ridden in at the time (which was mostly in my brother's Nova)
Then of course my bro in law's 5.0 stang with Nitrous.

oh what a feeling!

i find myself showing off all the time to my passengers who never experienced the power of the VQ!

you just described the test drive of my turbo II rx-7 when i was 19

if that thing didn't get stolen i would still have it today, and it would probably be pushing a 3 rotor by now, ah the memories.

hahaha wow! any reaction is a good reaction at least in writing to know that it made people actually feel or remember a feeling after reading a piece. Thank you for taking the time to read it!
Mid-a-mamma, i did go in my first boosted Z! it was Frank Hill's about a year ago when i was considering his same set up of the JWT 530 kit. He took me out for a spin and at the first light he launched but accidentally left the traction control on...so my forehead hit the dash board. after he turned it off we were going sideways down the road and i kept saying HOLY S**T!*)$@#&% after the ride was over i had to tell him I NEED TO GET THIS!
Bryce, That would be awesome! I worked black friday and it was so fun and easy, you shoulda worked!

I have been in a number of boosted cars, but there's been only one that has ever really SLAMMED me back into my seat - a buddies 10 second Supra. He started to get on it, and I thought for all of about two seconds, this isnt THAT fast, then WHOOOSH, turbos hit. There really is nothing like a boosted car to put a smile on your face.
