Default Tax Question ?

Hi folks

I was working for a single job 6 months and they usually deduct $150 to $180 at most from my paycheck in every 2 weeks.. Last month, i started to work for a part time job for 1 day on sundays.. Now, for my first job paycheck , I realized that my deductions in every two weeks are almost $220 to $250 ..

Is that the case when you get a part-time second job ? Does the IRS usually deducts more from your first jobs paycheck more ? If you have any answeres, I really appreciate it.. Thanks..

The IRS does not do it for you. Your company deducts the taxes based on your W-4.

The increase would be explained by higher rate or more hours by job 1

No. The IRS has no idea if you have 2 or 3 jobs and doesn't care.

I'm guessing that you may have filled out your W4 differently at the two jobs. Check to see that you are taking the same deductions.
Also, are you comparing apples-to-apples? Are you making the same gross salary at each? Taxes are a percentage. If the second one pays higher (for the whole paycheck) then of course your taxes will be higher.

Yes, that is what i meant.. Increase for the tax deductions happened after I got the second job.. My second job is just for 1 day but seems like my taxes have increased for my first job, is that the normal case ?

yes the irs does know u got a second job, unless your paid under the table and from your post your not. the tax rate does not change based on how many jobs you have unless it throw you into a differnt tax threshold
