So 1223 used to be my friday night happy hour. It was open bar from 5 - 9, so it usually ended up being my entire night . They closed down recently, and since my birthday is coming up, I need to find another one of these amazing open-bar deals before my friends from college come to visit and it's too late. Not to much into clubs, more of a bar guy. Bars are easier to socialize at, cheaper to get into (i.e. free to 5 bucks), minimal dress code, and the drinks are cheaper. I would say go to Steve's Bar which is right down the street next to Cafe Citron. Nice drink prices, great dj's, cool bartenders, and a good selection of single chicks (international if you into that thing) espically on the weekends. I would recommend going on Fri's and Sat's at about 11ish. Music ranges from Hip hop, dance, to rock (its a good assortment). Young professional clientele to i would say senior level college students. There only drawback to this is the size of the place but it aint that bad. I love in the place and fukin luv it!!!!

 

1223 closed down, me and Tofu-San were just their like 3 weeks ago, damn thats crazy.

 

Yea, lease ran out and its was to expensive to renew. The owners have a new place called Josephine.

 

Josephine was high end clubbing, right?

 

Yea. Not very big place and pretty hard to get in if:
1.) You dont know someone or
2.) Have a ratio of 3 girls to 1 guy or
3.) Have a table reserved (even having a table they will make you wait if your a bunch of dudes)

 

I personally like josephines but agree that they hold the line up early in the night. personally I think its one of the nicer clubs in d.c. and they don't skimp on the liqour in the drinks

saki in adams morgan has free drinks from 10 to 11 on wednesday.

DO NOT go to midtown near 1223, they rape your card. during inaguration I got a bottle and some drinks and essentially got charged for an extra bottle, charged 75 extra per bottle, and they threw in extra drinks onto the tab.

 

Nothing in DC except pretentious lounges and trendy guido shitsplats. (Josephines, Lima, Lotus, Park, all of Georgetown etc.. ). Give me a hole in the wall bar ANY day of the week. Or a house party with beer pong. Or XBox live with some Jack and Coke.

 

Is that whats its really called or is that just a sarcastic remark directed towards me.

thirsty turtle in CP, in bmore theres bottomless cups for $12 on thurs-burbon, fri&sat-at iguanna cantina , but i highly advise against all of those since they keep on getting more and more ghetto and young(18+ for girls)

Angels rock bar- free shots from the angels on friday @ 10, tattoo bar in d.c.(same managment) might do the same

true story- adams morgan(dont know if its still around) was a place that would buy you a shot every drink you got

I could care less about the cost of drinks and cover, id rather have a few drinks and be at a nice spot with 10's, then be at a cheap grimey place getting hammered with less hot girls and waking up with a horrible hangover from rail liquor. but its all personal preferance.

 

+1 Whats the point buying $2-3 drinks when all the women in the place look like *** unless your there just to hang out with friends.

 

The thing with 1223 on Friday is that I saw pretty decent people, and good things seemed to happen to me there. I was totally devastated when I found out they closed I knew the bartender on a firstname basis, so she always filled the liquor up, and sometimes even hooked me and friends up afterwards. So I guess that's sort of what I'm trying to find at a new location. And the fact that I could get all this for $20 + $10 was amazing.

I've been to Turtle on Thursdays and Fridays- I'm not really a fan :-/... 1223 just seemed to have the right mix of class, and cheap liquor :shrug:

 

midtown(formerly play lounge) next to 1223 has open bar from 10 to 11 this thursday...once the start charging pay cash, they hustle otherwise
