Default CEL = ON! Error Code P0300 - Random Misfiring

The Z had been sitting for about a week. Cranked it up on Saturday and the CEL came right on. So I plugged the OBD2 Reader in and found out the error code is P0300 - Random Misfiring. I erased the error, turned off ignition and cranked it back on and it didn't come back. Should I be concerned at all?

Ethan,

what's an ODD2 reader and where can I get one? My flat tire indicator has come on both times I've made trips out to VA and my new wheels don't have TPMS on them.

It's just a little reader thing that you can plug into your car (There's an adapter that can find on the driver side on the dash under the steering wheel) to read the error code and it'd give you a little description of the error. Type in something like "OBD2 scanning tool" on ebay and you'll see tons of them. I'm not sure if there's a preferred brand out there. You can get a pretty good one for less than $100.

Consulted with Master Shiroma. It's caused by bigger injectors (which I have 650cc injectors) and happens at Idle. It's some emission BS. I should be okay

I had the same code......all it took was a thorough cleaning of the maf sensor (crc makes a cleaner) and it was gone. Hasn't come back sense.

be careful buying the cheaper ones cuz they generally only work to diagnose engine/tranny/emissions codes. I dont know that most will be able to troubleshoot or clear the tire indicator light. I got mine for 89 bucks from advance auto. Actron is the brand they sell. Perfect for the non-mechanic like me

All you had to do was send Dave a text about it or since you have a OBD2 REader, Pick up a Pocket Scan from Advance for like 50 to 90 bucks by the way, you should really buy the book that goes with the tool. Tells you what all the codes are for every vehicle out there.

Good tool to have as larger injectors and some of us without cats throw codes all the time. I'm a P0441 a holic. Real time trouble shooting and erasing.

Can you still get through emissions with a "random misfiring" code. I thought they were only worried about the codes for the catalytic converters or is it check engine light = fail?

Nope. If you have CEL on, it's automatic fail regardless of what the error code says.
