I need halp from one of you mechanically inclined folks. While filling up at the pumps today, a tiny black piece broke off from inside my fuel tank door on my old Corolla. Not sure what it does but I assume it works in conjunction with the little flip latch under the seat that pops the little door open. Any one else with a 97 Corolla ever had this happen?
My baby is falling apart.....

Not sure Barn. I just closed it, picked up the loose piece and rolled out. I'll see if I can Google it or just mess with it this weekend.

Maybe it was what locks it, if that's the case, you can just push on the back side of the gas cap cover and it should open up.

Only thing back there is a the cap cover, the cap, and the filler hose. Not much stuff can go wrong.
