Default Painted Door Handles?

Possible? Worth it?

Id like to get the single thing left on my car that isnt black, black. Well, I still have to finish my rear wheels and do my headlights, but you know what I mean. I just hate that little metal thing staring me down every time go to open my door.

Im worried that the constant grabbing and such of the handle will chip it off and such, anyone painted their handles or had it done? Any comments or experience with it?

Interesting that you popped in here Jeffie, I just googled painted 350z door handles and I found a post of yours on Honda Swap from a few years back.

Great idea on a black car. Other colors I'm not too sure about. I say go for it! There's a powder coating place in Manassas, American Stripping I believe. If you already have the handles off, it shouldn't be anymore than $20-30 per handle to get them done. +1 on the blacked out headlights

At first I didn't like them, but you get use to them.

I've seen painted door handles on a few Zs and all of them looked bad.

It's IMO a better idea on paper. At this point the only thing I'd ever do is shave them.

Had mine painted and then clear bra'd to protect them from being scratched or chipped.

If you're going to black out your headlights and a bunch of other items, which it sounds like you're doing I'd definitely have them colored black. Leaving them the stock color would make it stand too out, IMO.

Do it with a sharpie. And if it smears you can touch it up so they always look perfect

I have my door handles painted. Just take em to a local body shop and they can do it up. I would recommend D&V if you are in the NOVA area. and you cant poweder coat them as they are plastic and will melt i think. worse case you buy some new ones if you dont like em not that exspensive. Take a look at my car it is the DB color I think it turned out well.

The 350Z door handles have always looked a rice to me & is one of the low points of the design IMO. The rest of the exterior design looks classy & they stick out. That is why I bought a Silverstone, just to try to make them blend in more. I know it is all a matter of opinion but for me, it just looks rice. For example, I cannot see that being on a BMW or Porsche.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure our handles are ABS plastic with an aluminum "sticker" for lack of better words, overlayed on them.

That being the case, you obviously wouldn't be able to powder coat them, because they would warp at a minimum, but more then likely melt.

I had no $hit aluminum parts on my Audi TT and there is a significant difference between the way those parts felt, and how my "plastic" Z door handles feel. Esp in weight.

I've seen Chris' car in person. The black door handles go really well with the DB.
