Its called the clutch interlock switch. I believe it has two purposes, 1) exactly what you described, 2) act as a safety mechanism so you don't start the car in gear and run into anything while the clutch is engaged. It simply shorts the circuit for the starter to crank the engine.

 

^^^correct. its what tells the ecm whether the clutch is engaged or not so the car will or will not start

 

I passed out candy, and argued with this one kid because he is too old to be trick or treating. He gave me some BS story saying it was for the kids.

Metro'd into Georgetown where I saw a male dressed in a short dress, wig, and big old ***** strapped to his crotch. Him and party boy danced all along M street slapping their fake weenier on people's cars. Another guy was walking around in just tightie whities. DC is always fun!

FYI, if you plan on metro'ing into G-town during the holidays, go to foggy bottom instead of rosslyn because the bridge was crawling. Got on the georgetown shuttle and got off 10 minutes later after moving 50 feet.

 

Georgetown is always fun!! I don't think my parties were that exciting but we definitely had some laughs

Nope im old ie dont dress up anymore and hate loud annoying (see cant handle your alchohol) people in general.

I would be pretty sad to see some 30+ yr old acting like he was still in college just imo.

 

It also disengages the cruise control when you push in the clutch, to keep your engine from reving up trying to maintian speed.
