The FC with an LS1 would be cool, but I would guess the install and getting a LS to toss in wouldn't be bargin priced. Buying one already done would be your best bet if you are trying to keep costs low, as I think you would with a big car loan on your plate now. I have yet to see a stupid cheap LS1 swapped FC though.

I think a 91+ MR2 turbo would be a better choice as they are out there for a semi resonable price, plus are a ton of fun. Its like a bargin basement NSX.

I would run from the 944, those cars are problems and work and parts are still not cheap.
