First, the knocking/rattling noise at idle until you press the clutch... SCARED the crap out of me when i got home. I thought my engine was knocking but when i pressed in the clutch.. it went away.. Search showed me that this is normal? and it may be the throwout bearing?! I'm not used to this..

I have an 05' and I've had no such rattling at idle. That is sort of ghetto if you ask me so I would ask Frank to check that out ASAP; "normal" or not. $hit shouldn't be rattling PERIOD unless of course, you drive a mid-90's civic.

2nd, at low speeds it sounds like the brakes are touching the disks for some reason.. why i don't know.. didnt do too much of a search on this though.

E-brake is up? LOL. Something is grinding on something else. Usually it's the tire on the wheel-well if something is loose. Check around under there.

3rd, i've got the clicking issue so I assume i need to replace the axle nut?.. its on the right rear btw.. but I should probably do both sides lol

It's most likely an axle, though having it happen in an 05' is rare. If you had an 03' this would actually be a very common issue, but I suppose anything can happen.

4th, i've got the tire psi light on and when you drive the car beeps at me with 3 long beeps i believe.. So it's true i have to go to the dealer to get it reset? or is there a way of doing it. I searched on here and it appears that i need to go to the dealer.

Fill your tires up and you should be good. Scroll through the psi reader and check if one tire is not reading. If so, you have a dead battery and you'll need to replace your TPMS sensor.

FINALLY... This is just odd.. These cars seem to have a lot of drivetrain noise and clunkiness to them. When i'm driving just say at 40mph or so.. and i'm in 5th gear cruisin around, when i start to accelerate, the rear end makes this loud rumble noise but starts to go away when i go faster.. OR..if i just downshift to 3rd and stay higher in RPMS, its not there, or not so apparent.

If you had KDW 2 tires, tire roar is common after a certain mileage. If not, it could be a balancing issue... does it wobble?

If you have an 05' that means it came with the updated transmission. Transmission issues aren't too common unless the previous owner ragged the hell out of it.

PS: PICS OF S2K!!!! s2k > 350z. Muahaha. That might be my next toy.

Welcome to Mid-A! The most dramatic area of the 350z forum!

Would you be willing to disclose what you paid for this car? I have an 05 Enthusiast that I am thinking about selling (only has 22K on it so I OBVIOUSLY never drive it!) and I was wondering how the NOVA market is right now for 350Z's.

You can PM me if you want.

Nope. Nissan just made 7.5 Sh!tty versions of a transmission for the 350z. Mine has one of them. Thats what I get for having an 03.

And about the TPS. Im 90% sure you need air in your tires. They beep at 28lbs

The car is in AWESOME shape but if i may, i do have a few questions.

I've searched a lot on google and it kept bringing me to MY350Z.com so I figured i'd just sign up.

Light weight flywheel? Yeah it sonds like that...

2nd, at low speeds it sounds like the brakes are touching the disks for some reason.. why i don't know.. didnt do too much of a search on this though.

Tires are feathered??

3rd, i've got the clicking issue so I assume i need to replace the axle nut?.. its on the right rear btw.. but I should probably do both sides lol

Grease and/or tighted axel nut/shaft Should go away

4th, i've got the tire psi light on and when you drive the car beeps at me with 3 long beeps i believe.. So it's true i have to go to the dealer to get it reset? or is there a way of doing it. I searched on here and it appears that i need to go to the dealer.

Tire sensors suck...low air pressure or false reading due to cold outside

Fly wheel again?

Could anyone help me? I'm so not used to these cars lol.. I have a turbo s2000 which i'm used to and a 2002 maxima auto that i'm selling since i got this My wifey just purchased a 2008 g37S red on black.. beautiful cars...

Thanks all!

Allan

Hey all!

What a day today..

I spent the majority of the afternoon with Frank.. What awesome and lovely people him and his wife are!!!

His wife has this water toy thing, where there are little rings inside this toy.. you push the button over and over until the rings float on top of these little poles.. the goal is to get all the rings on there.. lol.. she didnt think i was gonna do it lol

So after playing with that.. i hung out with Frank in the back. He did a thorough check and drove my car.. He said my "noise" i'm getting with the tranny is "normal" he said its the throwout bearing and his car even does it too.. He did mention something about an upgraded tranny and said the fork was upgraded to a more heavy duty one.. Mine has it..

He shot the $hit with me for hours while explaining about the car and the normalcy of the sounds associated with this car.. which was VERY surprising to me. The clunkiness of the drivetrain ect.

To me its got a clunky feeling mainly because i have an s2000.. its tight and none of this on it. Not to say its better, but its just not as heavy duty and i guess as big as the nissan/infiniti stuff..

He than changed my rear diff fluid and was golden color and said it was ok.. he said its pretty hard to screw up the diff unless you're a mad drifter or beat the hell out of it.. even so its hard to mess it up he said...

He changed my oil, checked my tires for air.. which btw, fixed my problem.. Thanks guys for the ones that mentioned that....what else

OH he said my rear tires are so worn and feathered that, that's what's causing the louder noise...

The brake touching rotors sound? guess what.. if you look behind the front rotors, there is a plate... it was simply touching the rotor lol.. he pulled it away from the rotor.. that problem solved...

Just basically boiled down to this... I could get my clutch replaced and that also replaces the bearing... OR just ignore the sound because it wont hurt the car mechanically and the sound is just annoying to folks.. he did say his car has been doing it for awhile and his is an 03.

He even did small things like replace clips that were broken under the car where the plastic was..

OH the ac belt was broke and just caught up in the pull.. it was pretty dry rotted... so he yanked that out.. even showed me how to change the belts even though i knew how too, but instead of saying, you should bring it in for me to do it... he offered his knowledge to show how to do it incase i wanted too.. HOW NICE IS THAT!!!

So...My car is smoother with the oil change and i'm sure the diff fluid change helped as well...

He went on about performance mods and how the stock intake is good just replace with K&N filter ect... then said i COULD do that, but if i changed the cats to high flow cats or like double resonated Test pipes and a nice aftermarket exhaust along with the 5/16th spacers...get a nice tune or reflash and it helps nicely with the hp?

I stopped at the dealer where i got the car since they were like 10 miles apart from each other.. how concenient! I had spoken to them on the phone because the manager called in concern with the problems i had... that was very nice! Frank even wrote up a paper that showed the problems with the tires, the belts, the throwout bearing issue.. so the dealer is looking into it.. and i already have an appt with Frank to get my belts replaced and the dealer is gonna pay... So hopefully the dealer will take care of the bearing issue... and if i have to pay some, i suppose i will...

Frank was telling me there are some clutch kits out there with the flywheels already and said if the dealer is gonna help or pay for the stuff.. i should just go ahead and get a clutch kit and flywheel.. makes sense...

We'll see how it goes.. I'll keep yall posted..

OH.. and the question on the 350z price... It was for $14,995. Not bad for 52k miles touring addition I suppose.. but then again, i dont know the value yet on these cars..

Sorry the pics are small.. not very good with this stuff lol..

But these are the pics of what my car LAST looked like...My car is at PTUNING in manassas and is being rebuilt. A new turbo kit is going into the car and hopefully pushing 450whp on 12psi with a gt35r. this is my 3rd time turboing lol

New enkei PF01 rims.. new side skirts, new ings rear bumper ect..

As you can see my s2000 is my show/toy car and my Z is gonna be the daily cruiser... Although.. i've been thinking of 19's, lowering, and a lip..and exhaust and TP lol... and maybe a nismo wing hahaha...

Hope to see you guys/gals in the future!!.. i now have the best of the both worlds lol

what about exedy? isn't that stock specs? i'm fine with that..

Frank said that its a good idea to replace the flywheel while its out. should i? Are there any flywheels that aren't lightened? I did however see the JWT flywheel that was lightened and only 399.00..

is that good?

Check out this site: http://www.clutchcityonline.com/

They've got real good prices on OEM as well as aftermarket.
I can't speak from personal experience, just from the posts on here, but I've heard the JWT is real noisy.

I have the ACT lighten flywheel + Exedy Clutch and I love it! I don't even think about the chatter anymore and truthfully it never even bothered me. Its just something you will get used to.

Check the vendor section for sale thread for some good deals. My buddy got the JWT clutch and flywheel combo for a good deal shipped to his house in 3 days. I think it was some close to $700 for everything you need.
