Track Time
I doubt gloves are required for Track Day stuff, but a decent pair of driving gloves will help you hang onto a slippery steering wheel.
I have some Sparco gloves I got at OG Racing in NOVA that cost about $45 and they are going on 8 years old with lots of use!

As the others said, no but they do help grip the wheel. The Sparcos I referred to that I have are actually mechanics gloves. They're basically like driving gloves with nice rubber pieces inserted in the tips of the fingers and down the fingers that really help grip the wheel in a non-slip way. Fire retardent gloves would be way overkill for this. The gloves I have are $17 at OG Racing and there is a shop at summit point. Not sure when they open though. They sell on the web and have their main store in Virginia.
Brakes will definitely help especially if you're making big power. I have AP Racing brakes and love 'em. I hit ~95 mph in the back stretch of Shendoah and have NO fear whailing on my brakes at the last second going into the end turn of that section. Likely with big power, you'll be well over 100 at that point so yes, get your brakes done! I was told some of the modified time attack cars were hitting about 120-130 in that section (the BC Racing G35).

I am working the May 1st SCCA track day at Summit Point and I think Frank is going to go to that.

Oh, and by the way, in that video (the GTI) I'm going 115 on the back straight and almost 100 on the bridge straight. I want to get R-compounds and some adjustable dampers or coilovers and see if I can get to maybe 1:46.xx (currently running all-stock suspension & EPS tires). -- 450 hp time attack cars run at about 1:40-1:42 fyi.

I am not sure. I was up there this last weekend for an oil pan spacer. Next thing is by UPREV dyno tune but am not sure when I will do that. Maybe this weekend if I can schedule.

Ill be there that day as well
Looks to me like the guy in the video is pretty fast. Faster than me, I can tell, and I was fast enough to make myself motion sick the last time out. For that reason, I won't do the small track anymore. I'm slow and I admit it but I do have fun. That's what counts. My main goals are:1. have fun, 2. improve/learn something and 3. bring the car home pretty much like I drove it there.
