I had a CEL and it's related to idle. I realized that CEL only comes on when the weather's cold. So I waited for a warm date, reset my ECU and drove to the Maryland Emissions station in Glen Burnie area. At the time I had only about 12 miles on the car after the reset. The guy said they it failed the "readiness" test and I have to drive the car more before they can do the test again and I got a 2 weeks extension.
So exactly how many miles are needed after the ECU reset to pass that "readiness" test?

A friend of mine w/ a turbo setup ran only 20 miles and his ECU was ready to go. 2 yrs ago I ran 50 and I was ready to go. This year, I ran 250 miles and the ECU wasn't ready yet, still 3 incomplete. Tried again and ran 300 miles and still 3 incomplete. You're allowed to have 1 incomplete which in most cases is the evap system (which takes 400 miles to cycle through.) I suppose it all varies from time to time.
Best way to check: Have an OBD II scanner handy, it'll tell you when your car is ready for emissions

Hmm... You know what I'm just gonna go drive around this afternoon then go to another station and try to pass it.
I went from DC/MD/Va to San Antonio, Tx. I drove and I have a reflash so I dont know if that has anything to do with it.
Maybe a deeper look at the CEL is nessesary??
I never had idle issue from weather even before I had the reflash. I was there for winter and summer there and here.

From what I've heard you have to go through a range of test.
one might be a
low load 800rpm to 3500 rpm
med load at a set rpm
rpms lowering from 3500 down to 800
there's a bunch of parameters that the ecu has to see in order to ready up everything.
If you hit them all it might only take 5 miles.
My utec is throwing a bank 1 too rich error, even 5-10 miles after resetting the codes, what's I'm not even throwing a cell light. I'm getting retuned soon so I can get my smog test done.
Already extended it once

What way is that? Maryland isnt like other states where you go to a random garage and have it tested, slip a few bucks to the guy and be on your way. It's done by the state.
Besides, his car can pass the legal way if he has a new tune.

Yea I have defoulers already. My CEL comes on when it's a cool/cold day during starting up of the car or a minute or so after the car's started. I had some shop looked at it before and they confirmed it's an idle issue.
