They have decent N/A tune prices, I'll give 'em that. Full FI tune prices are another story. Sorry to hear you got bailed on...strange. Good luck with your tune.

frank hill is at the mercy of frank the tuner to some degree since hes the one doing the tuning. frank hill pays a fee for having the tuner there as well. but i will say that every tune that comes out of there has shown to provide more power and torque SAFELY. i will be getting tuned within a month or so (n/a)

The price they gave me was fantastic, I've been quoted around 750-800 for a tune/reflash using the same software. Iv been waiting this long for a tune whats another week, i dont mind.

Like I said, NA tuning is priced very well. FI tuning is pretty crazy. I know Frank knows his stuff, and it's too bad he doesn't have more competitive FI tune pricing or I'd use him in a heart beat. And I'm not talking about a small difference in pricing.

^I'd agree.....I'm not sure exactly why the labor rate is variable to your set-up. Seems to me that an hour tuning is an hour of tuning...........where did you decide to go, Randy?

I didn't feel the price I paid for tuning was out of line, seemed pretty normal if you asked me.

If I remember right N/A tunes = 150 and hour and FI tunes run around 250 an hour? I never did look at my bill to see the break down but I think that's what it was.

If I owned a grass cutting company and quoted someone for a job where they had a large piece of flat land that took 1 hour to cut, I'd charge them 1 hour. If they had a small piece of land that was totally F-ed up, hills everywhere and lots of little task that had to be done, even if it only took me one hour I'd charge them based on the lot because it would be a total PITA to do.

take it or leave it

Lets not forget about all the FI guys who have a ready to be tuned car that ends up having 5 problems before they even get around to the first pull. Fouled plugs, charge pipe blows off, vac lines not hooked up correctly, the list can go on.

maxima anyone?

N/A tunes = roll up, hook it up, run a full pulls, done.

I somewhat disagree.....it is a matter of time. They charge a flat rate for NA tunes (just like everyone else) too make it worth while. They charge 2 1/2ish hours of tuning though it only really takes an hour.....maybe 90 minutes. It is just like when having a clutch installed.....they bill you for 5, but it may only take 2-3 for shop to do. I have no problem with that. FI should just be an open ended amount of time at the same labor rate. It is already going to take at least 4 hours........but could take 6 or more. Like you said....it is much more variable than tuning an NA car. Not to mention...............just about every other shop around (good and bad) charges a flat tuning rate......not depending on NA or FI. I like both Franks...I think they do an excellent job.....this is my only contention.
