Default Mid-A Golf Thread

What fellow Z owners play golf in the Mid-A? Who wants to get together and have a shootout or who knows of public/private tournaments we can be in or just a day at a course?

I usually play in a spring/summer/fall golf league once per week, the website is www.golffrederickmd.com. Who is looking to network with more golfers?

I love golf......though I haven't played nearly as much this year as I have for the last dozen or so years.

My clubs . . .

Driver - Callaway X460 Tour 8.5 degree
3W - Callaway X 15 degree
Irons - Wilson Staff Fi5 Forged Blades 3I - PW
Wedges - Titleist Vokey 52 degree 252.08, Titleist Vokey 56 degree oil can 8620 256.14, Titleist Vokey 60 degree spin milled 60.04
Putter - Odyssey White Hot XG #9

Been playing with these clubs for about 3 years now. I had them regripped at the end of last season with some medium golf pride grips. I regripped my putter with a FAT winn grip and have been putting great ever since. I am a 0-8 handicap golfer. The more I play, the closer I am to par.

How bout everyone else's club selection.

I like the oil can look. You must be an old school player to go from driver-3W-3I without at least a hybrid. I can barely shape a shot with my 4I or 5I more or less a 3I.

I usually get 230 out of my 3I, and more off the tee with a 3I punch shot, sometimes get up to 250+ depending on the conditions. Been shaping shots for 14 years lol. I started playing golf my freshman year in high school.

^^^ I would choose an extra wedge in my bag over a hybrid any day. I have tried hybrids before. If my swing speed was lower, then yes I would probably have hybrids replacing my 3I-5I more than likely. My average driver swing speed usually clocks between 115 and 125mph. Irons somewhat slower from 90 to 105 depending on the shot I hit. *I don't take lessons, just utilize my local golf shop and demo days to measure my swing speed/ball speed/launch angle. I use all extra stiff shafts.

Todd's an avid golfer and I've been meaning to take it up as a hobby. Just never had anyone to go with.

^^^ Played golf with Todd yesterday. With work, wife and everything it's difficult to manage everything so that I have enough time to play a round every week. But it's really important to just get out there and have fun.

^^^ It doesn't matter. We all laugh at some shitty shots we make. I'm not a pro or anything so I do have some funny shots. I hit a shot out of the woods, hit a tree head on, bounced back towards me, hit another tree, then bounced into the short rough while todd was watching. It was hilarious. He said he's never seen a shot end up like that. I actually don't drink anymore but when you're all beered up the game gets easier for some.

Dude the average golfer doesnt shoot under a 100.. you cant play twice a year and expect a whole lot out of yourself.. in order to get good you must practice and play a good amount... Once you start playing alot its easier to correct your mistakes or know what you did wrong if you duck hook the ball or slice it... takes a lot of dedication to get into a single handicap.. the lowest i have gotten was a 5.. thats when i worked at Ruggles Golf Course and played almost everyday..
