I stayed in the magnolia by myself last year... since the other guys I was going with bailed on me the week before
. It is OK, but its more like camping (I don't camp) then it is staying in a resort. I was the only one who could get phone or internet (verizon) at all unless you were in the hotel lobby.
Just a thought for those who were thinking of attending the airstrip event. Its 2-3 hours drive to get from Fontana to the airstrip IIRC. Some of us (me, XKR, ToastZ, Sharif, Blackbird) stayed the night at the Hampton that is 10 minutes from the airstrip.
One more thing, get to the village during the day, its completely pitch black at night with no street lamps or outside lights to see the numbers on the cabins. I got lucky and found mine by chance when I stopped to turn around.
Nothing was more fun than blasting through the dragon trying to keep pace with all the other high HP Z/Gs... while Paul was cuising in his GTR effortlessly. The ride out in the rain was much less fun.

The Zcar crew out of Richmond VA will be there. There were approx 14 members who rolled to last years event. More this year. I know a few of us are talking of rolling out early on Wednesday morning, may alter the plans and leave even earlier if things shape that way. From Williamsburg/Richmond it is an all day run to Fontana (within view of the speed limit, nothing crazy) we rolled in with long shadows and by the time we finished check in, it was full on dark. Me and PapoZalsa reserved Willows unit #16 months ago. Let me know if you all think it is feasible to caravan together... It is the sh*t to caravan.... Makes for great rolling shots on the long straight parts of the road... But caravans have their issues too... One can draw a lot of attention from johnny law in some of the little burgs - but that is easily avoided if everyone keeps their wits.
I've been to Zdayz twice - and the Tail of the Dragon has a reputation as many of you know... A lot of fun... but it can dangerous too. Both times I've attended there has been at least one 'very fortunate' walk-away from - accident among attendees - and at least one serious motorcycle accident - (One involved one of the attendees) The police on the dragon Do Not Play... They know what you're there for... and can't hear excuses very well. If you come into their view - over the double yellow... AUTOMATIC RECKLESS and $500 Plus in fines. Just remember that On the Dragon, Control is most easily managed by SPEED.. No one will fault an attendee for learning their own capabilities - even if they look like a little old lady the first time up and back.
In my opinion Zdayz is the premier Zcar event to attend - if you can attend only one event per year - Make it this one. The friends you make will be the friends you see again next year... and that is half the fun right there. See you in the mountains!
