you need a permit to drive on skyline w/ large groups of the same vehicles. The only way to organize the event in a legit fashion is if all attendees chip in $10-15 per car because the permit I believe costs $250/group (correct me if I'm wrong). Lots of paperwork involved. The last one we had (w/o paperwork) was a disaster because half the group was escorted out right after they paid w/o a refund.
Whoever wants to step up to the plate, feel free to organize something. You're more than likely going to have to be the one fronting $250 and have everyone pay you back later.
The one and only I went on was 2 years ago I think.
There were guys doing burnouts at the entrance gate
There was a guy in a Lambo that was acting like a complete idiot.
Our group got to 211 and we were asked to get off the drive. The Park Ranger told us someone had complained about being run off the road by a "race car".

Not interested.
where else can you do some high speed runs on the side of the mountain?
head toward West VA, plenty of crazy roads by the side of a mountain
As a matter of fact, try Rt 33 out of Harrisonburg. That road almost made my GF sick where you cross over from VA into WV. I was throwing it thru the corners pretty hard and it's got a lot of blind turns where all you see is sky!
