BGP
DownTown Baltimore looks pretty serious. Main straight is maybe 50 feet wide and there will be 30 or so cars looking for that front position at 160+ mph. Something u don't see every day and if you're a car person, you will definitely love it. K rails and 10 foot fences everywhere along the route. Like I said, its getting serious down here.
Could the BGP be the next Long Beach GP? I don't think there are any street races left besides these two. I hope BGP does not go the way of most street races, one and done.
here are some pics that I took yesterday from the ALM event. The M3, Jag and vette sounded crazy.
I think the Jag only did a couple of laps. Enjoy

love the sound of the vettes

^^ great shots. Where was the pre-race walk around? That's a hallmark of ALMS but I could not figure where it was.
Couple videos.

Turn 1 action. The Rahal Letterman BMW locks em up trying to haul it down from 150+mph while being chased by the Falken Tire 911 RSR. The 911 eventually passes him in this corner.

More turn 1 action. Good spot to watch the race.

This is Turn 5 video near pit in or turns 6 and 7. This is a tight section of the course but some great shots. I love the sound of Ferrari in the afternoon!

I worked the event and the week leading up to it and I had an amazing time. It is definitely a lot of work supporting an event like this and it is even more challenging when it is an innagural event. I took off from work all of last week to support the office folks on the days leading to the race weekend and then as friday hit I soon realized it was going to be a busy hectic weekend.
Here's a list of things that impressed me for each day (good or bad).
Thursday: seeing the light rail intersection at Camden Yards and the Convention Center plowed over with new asphalt in less than 5-hrs a day before the race; running into racers on golf carts and scooters.
Friday: arriving to the track at 7am and realizing that none of the port-a-pots were unlocked (they were chained up) and then getting a police officer to cut them open with bolt cutters from their bomb-truck; walking through the ALMS paddock areas and seeing the cars in prep stages; bumping into more and more drivers; seeing changes being made to the track still to make teams and drivers a little more happy; seeing how many people showed up just for a practice/qualifying day.
Saturday: a little smoother than friday and pretty much on schedule; it is honestly a little bit of a blur; I helped Michael McQuerry (super bowl raven) and his buddy get inside despite the huge lines; Getting a little lost while with Michael McQuerry; bumping into friends, clearing out the track so the ALMS folks could race; Seeing how much the teams actually take apart the cars after each day.
Sunday: escorting and transporting Grand Marshall General Colin Powell for most of the day; racing up and down certain parts of the track with him and following Colin Powell just moments before it went hot; hearing how happy and impressed people were with the race and baltimore; going to sleep for more than 4-hrs finally.
In general, I was working ceremonies. That included any pre/post race stage events or on track stuff with the VIPs and winner circle details. In addition to that though, the ceremonies crew kind of became the crisis management center, so we had a lot of stuff going on from multiple directions.
In short it was an awesome experience I look forward to repeating and possibly make a career out of it all.

Was in Bmore all weekend. What an amazing event. I had a hell of a time watching and hearing all the sounds. Its awesome to wake up Saturday and Sunday after being hungover to the sound of race cars blocks away.
Good times! I will go every year it comes back.

The Petron 458 sounded incredible under decel. M3 was loud, and the Vette was the meanest.
The Falken Porsche had a good battle with that M3 but eventually passed and ran away. The driver of that Porsche had some good passes under braking going into 3.

Vette was easily my favorite, great weekend. Three year guarantee and two one year options for this event. Hopefully the attendance increases and both parties exercise the options.
