Question I'm buying one! questions?

I'm a middle age man ordering a Z by Jan. I had one about 15 yrs
ago(280z). I'm coming back!!! I'm older and less agile now.
I'm opting for the auto trans. Is the auto much slower than the
manual. I'm looking at the enthusiast model with 5 speed auto!
Please let me know about your general impression driving one.
Thank you in advance.

I haven't personally driven the auto, but most of the people who have seem to really like it. Try doing a search in the general forum or in the technical archives and see if you can dig up some of the old posts.

If you can get through the manual people telling the automatic people that they are missing out, there are some good posts about the auto itself.

Some to get you started:

Good Luck!

I drove the auto-tiptronic 5-speed Z. I thought it was really nice. The tiptronic is really responsive. Most people when theyre trying to decide between a manual or auto once they drive the tiptronic go with it. I didn't notice a speed difference in them. I know theyre is one but it feels about the same to me. so if youre just looking for a cruiser instead of a hot-rod id say go for the auto.

The only thing I'll say about age is I predate the NBA.

I ordered the Enthusiast with stick shift. However, it will be a second car meaning I don't have to use it for dailey commutes.

If it was going to be a dailey commute car I would have opted for auto tranny. I test drive a stick & the acceleration was terrific but I don't see where it would be much less with auto.

Go with the auto if thats what feels right to you.

I just sold my 280z. The 280 was the best car I ever had, then the 350 came around. You will be in love with the 350 just as much if not more

Default auto

I bought the 5AT and couldn't be happier after over 3 decades w/MTs. The manual mode is fantastic; foot to the floor the shifts are really fast and I use it most of the time instead of the full auto. However, the full auto upshifts at redline also. The best of both worlds.
