It was sport compact car, and no the supra didn't win, a 360 ferrari won. And the supra didn't win the drag race either, it finished behind a twin engined tiburon, a skyline, and a mustang. The ferrari won the track competition also. The supra did however finish 2nd overall behind the 360.

That must've been more recently. Mani Jaysingha won it a few years back which is when I was referring to it. I haven't seen any recent competitions. But if I had to put money down on someone in a cone course or track it'd be on Mani and his Supra. The guy is a freak and helluva great driver. If you want to **** your pants ride shotgun with him on a mountain course.

Point is the Supra is great both on and off the track. I watched Mani pass a Viper GTS at Pheonix Raceway. The Viper pulled on the straights but Mani was riding his *** in every turn trying to get around him until he finally pulled over to let him pass.

ROFLMAO, that's hilarious. I never would've thought his big *** could fit in a Supra. Amazing.

Hehehe, modified Turbo Supras run 8's, 9's, 10's, 11's, and 12's in the 1/4 mile. What's your point? If you're talking about retaining the stock block and internals then I don't think anything touches the Supra. I know many low 10 second Supras that have stock blocks. They are also daily driven street cars. My car ran a 12.5 with stock turbos, exhaust, EBC, and a downpipe. And I'm not that good of a driver. Others have run in the 11's with the same plus underdrive pulleys and cam gears. Or simply add NOS and you have a monster with nothing added. Simply an amazing car and motor.

Of course the headers are different. The TT has 2 turbos stuffed in the headers. DUH!

Supra engines have notoriously strong internals. Those cars' engines can handle about 900 hp without making any internal changes. That is amazing considering today's manufacturer usually only make engines with just enough strength that there's little chance that anything will break with stock hp. Anyone got any info on how much hp the internals and fuel injectors on the VQ 350z engine can support?

I think he meant not the header itself, but the bolt location and port size/shape on the flange that bolts onto the block.

I can't comment on that. I'm unfamiliar with the head design on the supras.

I know the engine is strong but 900hp is almost three times stock hp..on stock internals? I'd love to see some more information on that car.

Here's one with stock internals. They claim this one holds a record for highest hp on stock engine, but I've seen higher before.

I'm really impressed...I didn't know the stock bottom end was that durable. Are the internals forged from the factory?

Just check out some of the past Turbo mags. Paisley's white Supra was on the cover putting down over 900rwhp with a stock bottom end. Their goal was to see how much power could be squeezed out of the motor and thus achieving the highest # possible for a stock motor. He also ran in the high 8's with that car. Vinny Ten is another Supra driver who runs 8's.

No, I don't think the internals are forged...it is just an extremely robust aluminum block that was, well, pretty much made to be modded heavily. The Japanese have this law governing horsepower to 285 on their production vehicles, of course 285 just doesn't "do it" for some people. So the Japanese spec Supra TT only had 280hp (to meet but not exceed the hp limit) and the American spec had 320 hp stock. But recognizing the market for people who want more hp, the japanese built a block that could withstand high hp and left the modding up to the owners. That's why to this day, Supras still sell for well over $30k used. That block is just amazing for a production vehicle and I would love to drop one in my Z, who knows maybe somebody will try it! I really want to see what the VQ block can handle with stock internals!

Stock Supras don't go for over 30K unless you find one with almost no miles on it. You can find most in the 20,000 range in NICE condition with around 70K miles. Now modified is way different...I've seen some go for 70,000 which were heavily modded, clean, and low miles. They were putting down about 900 HP. Supras are BAD *** cars that I've always admired. A BPU+ supra can smoke anything from Vettes to Vipers to Ferraris. I'm down to either getting a new 350Z or a used Supra TT. After reading about allt he recent tranny probs with the Z, I'm really starting to lean towards the Supra.

Is it an aluminum block? I was under the impression that the 2JZ was iron Block and thats why it held up to so much boost and the RB26 was aluminum.
