Default supra race

this is how it went... i see a supra with a muffler and i pull up next to it then i realize it has a set of rays te 37s, thats about all the mods i could tell it had so here we goes..... light turns green we both go im liek 1 car length in front of it till 60 mph, i thought i had it in the bag... then i change to third gear and i see him coming up... i was hoping i coudl take him since max torque is at around 5000 so then, while hoping.... the supra passes me so fast.... i think he had NOS or something

any one else race a supra? what was the outcome?

I have a 94 supra TT, it has what they call sequential turbo, one boost will go about 2k rpm, and about 5k the second one kicks in. They are pretty fast. I can keep up w/ mine, but just keep up.

WOW- I don't think I would even try a supra! I'm surprised that you thought you had it beat- then it just wasted you! I personally hate the taste of "humble" pie! hehehehe

The supras were very much a 1/4mile animal. They are far less agile on the track due to their weight.

Yes they are very quick and easy to modify. I believe they run the quarter in low to mid 13's from the factory. How much more do supras weigh over the z?

nope, it has the non turbo version of the 2jz-gte hence the name 2jz-ge. It's the same engine found in the gs300, sc300 (old school), and maybe the rx300. Dragonbz99 was correct in saying that there are internal differences between the gte and ge, which is evidenced by the fact that you cannot take the tt system off a gte and bolt it onto a gte (manifold incompatibility @ mounting positions at the block).

Are you serious? You don't even know how much your car weighs?

www.CARPOINT.com.

Compare the Supra Base to the Supra TURBO. The Turbo weighs in at 3450 lbs.

Yah one time I stop at one of the weighing statations off the high way, it weighed 3347lbs. That was also me, a big mac, large fries, two supersized soft drinks w/ about 30 ice cubes added together. I thought the scale was off.

I just recently sold my 97 TT Supra. A bone stock Turbo Supra would beat a 350Z with some room to spare. A slightly modified Supra would kill a 350Z unmodified. With just an exhaust and a downpipe I dynoed 360rwhp.

And just to point out to whomever said the Supra isn't good on the track cuz it's heavy. I'm guessing you haven't seen a Supra race. Last year and the year before check out "The Ultimate Street Car championship". I believe in Turbo magazine. TT Supra won the track portion and the drag portion. Different Supra won show and shine. The Supra is a pure bred race care good on both strip and track.

I'm looking forward to seeing what can be done with the Z. I think the motors will be getting better and stronger as time goes on. The Z is going to be the ice breaker.

how did you get 360rwp w/ just exhaust and a down pipe? I am not question whether or not you did, I just want to know how. Did you adjust your boost? Supra's come 320 stock, what are they stock to the RWHP??

Default Wouldn't mess around with TT Supras

You'd be crazy to race a Twin Turbo Supra. I have a group of friends with cars that include NSX's, M3's, a couple of 300ZXTT's including mine, and some Supras. My 300ZXTT had an intake, exhaust, boost controller, downpipes, no cats, and ran low 13's at about 107mph. My friends Supra TT with intake, exhaust, and boost controller ran about the same times. When he added an intercooler and downpipe, he ran high 12's at 112mph. On the open road it was a joke. He would smoke us all. I would try to keep him in sight, but the NSX's and M3's would get dusted to the point where we couldn't see them anymore. I could easily peg my 155mph speedo so god knows how the Supra went. Did you guys see the Stockholm video with the Supra vs the Cosworth Escort? The Supra's speedo went well past 300kmh (186mph)!!! Unless you want to get your *** handed to you, I wouldn't mess with a TT Supra (unless you have a TT 350Z). Who cares anyway. After trying to build my 300ZXTT faster and faster, I've come to the realization that no matter how fast I may make my car, there will always be a faster car out there......

Isn't that the truth!

So often in racing, it's the car that wins. And that's usually to do with how much money has been spent in the pursuit of winning.

When Mike Kojima of Nissan hears people complaining about the price of parts, he likes to put things in perspective

"Do you want to go fast or do you want to suck!"

I think that sums it up.
