Default Going to the Track - any tips?

...man am I happy Finally, after about two years of having no 1/4 mile strip, they are finally re-opening the old one back up. This will be my first time at the track with any car, so I am trying to get a few tips, like tire pressure, launching techniques ,etc...Keep in mind I am in Albuquerque, which is about a 5000ft elevation, so actual times (non-corrected) will be on the slow side. I was thinking around 27-28psi on the rears to help get some more traction (should it be more/less ??), and trying launches at 2250, 2500, 2750, and 3000 rpms to see what yields the best 60' times (I have a Base model, so no LSD ). From practicing on an empty side road, I've noticed dumping at 2250 gets me no wheel spin with no bogging, but dumping at 2500 I get "half-***" wheel spin (almost like wheel hop because it doesn't quite grab as much) which seems like it's even worse than dumping at 3000 when you already get a good ammount of wheelspin. So I figure I could try to feather the clutch a little at 2500 and up... So here's another question for experienced track goers....Is no wheel spin on the launch (as long as there's no bogging) necessarily always better than losing time with wheel sping but launching at higer rpms ? Also any suggestions for a newbee will be appreciated

i would start at 25 p.s.i and go down as nessecary from there...also the actual clutch technique will require practice ...feathering at 3500 might be better than a dump at 2250 ...if you could heal toe it ...i'd try to hold the clutch break and gas holding the clutch right at the engagement point...alittle wheel spin isnt such a bad thing but it's a fine line....the 60" is the most important part of the run...if i were you i wouldnt worrie at all about your R/T it doesnt effect your ET so who cares...if you do want to cut a couple lights then go the milli second the third yellow light comes on i go between the second going out and third coming on...atleast in my mind... my best is a .503 r/t and i had one .499 , my best 60 is 2.068 lets see what you can do

Launching on the street is totally different than launching at the track. Like TypeR said, go on the last yellow light so when your body finally reacts, it will be green. I would "play" with the tire pressure as the day goes along. Start out with regular pressure and let a little out every run. Good luck and be sure to let us know how it goes.
