Talking 03 Cobra VS a Triumph......motorcycle that is

Guess who's back...back again....err...yeah..anyways....

Got a quick run for ya while I was on vacation.
Recently, I've had a hard time getting guys with cars to run (come on...the car's not unbeatable)...so I was coming home one night, and this guy goes by on some type of Triumph motorcycle. Not your "crotch rocket" type bike...I would race one...but would NOT expect to win, thats for sure.

So this guy on the bike and myself get up to a light....I'm not really paying attention, but notice him taking off kind of hard...so I figure, "ah, what the heck" and I just lay into the gas for all it's worth to follow. By now this guy is in it full throttle and has about a car length on me.....I hit second....and he's slowly quitting his pull on me....hit third...and he's no longer walking on me....top of third, and in to fourth...I am VERY SLIGHTLY starting reeling him back in. At this point we are basically WAY over the speed limit (duh), and I see him shut it down so I follow suit before we both get a serious ticket...lol.
From there we basically just paced each other the rest of the way till I had to turn off to my apartment.

I'm sure I'll get some BS flags on this...thats fine. Like I said it wasn't a GSXR or anything of the likes...the only thing I could make out was the Triumph emblem so I'm not sure what model it was... Shoot even if it was one of the "crotch rockets"...would have raced him anyways...I just like to race, and it's just been real hard to get anyone to race here recently....

Did it look like a cruiser or a sport bike? Anyway, if you're into running bikes in your mighty cobra i'd like to give it a try on my CBR sometime. It only runs low 10's so if you're like most other mustang owners i've talked to you can probably beat me
Id run ya if I were local. Id lose too. Those CBR's are FAST!!! Is it a 600cc or what? No matter, cool bike.

Dont give up on all domestic owners, man. We arent all bad. I know that there are some bad seeds and we bumrushed your board but speeking for all of us, we come with much respect.

I get a kick out of the posts on 0-60 and/or quarter mile times with their Zzzs or other sport car. I have a 20 year old Honda 900F motorcycle in the garage. If I blew the 2" of dust off of it; changed the oil & added gas, the bike would blow the socks off 98% of cars. Don't recall quarter time but 0-60 was around 4 seconds.

Oh, it was def more of a cruser....but didn't look like a harley or anything...still looked a little "sleek". Was not a sports bike...I would have run it anyways (not expecting to even keep up, mind you)....and while I would be more then happy to run you on your CBR, I would (and don't know any other Mustang owner who would think differently) not expect to beat you....or keep up for that matter....lol

I was actaully kind of curious about that myself cause I could hear the audio of it, and it was so quiet.... I was like "did this guy tape two other cars racing cause it's WAY to quiet for a modded 03 to be there"....

I just have a CAI on mine, and the S/C is pretty loud in my car...no clue how loud it is from the outside....
and if it's modded, exhaust would be the first or second thing to get added....and I didn't hear any exhaust.

At the same time....I don't claim the 03s are unbeatable....but just with CAI, and exhaust, your looking at right around 400 RWHP....add a pully, port the lower intake....475+ with matching torque...

When you're in a Turbo car with a straight through 3in exhaust making nearly 400fwhp with the windows closed I doubt you'd hear any outside sounds short of a top fuel dragster...

It WAS an 03 cobra (I know the guy Harold who ran the cobra)....a lightly modded 01 Cobra wouldn't have stood any chance against a 3000lb maxima with nearly 400 horses to the front wheels. He's not sure exactly what the Cobra had...but it was lightly modded....

two questions....
What do you run in the quarter?

and I'm not actaully tossing up a BS flag or anything, cause it is REAL hard to tell from the video...but are you sure it was an 03 cause those fog lights seem like the slant up on the inside like on the 99/01s.... Like I said....it's real hard to tell....

nice kill either way...

Not a problem....
Thanks for the clarification....
Lightly modded, they probably both had about the same HP, and at HWY speeds, TQ doesn't play as big of a factor.....but that weight difference is a big factor...

nice run...now that I finally got it to work

The guy with the turbo max has not posted in this thread....so I don't know why you are adressing him (which from your post it seems like you are) I could be confused though...the internet can do that.

Anyway...I do know that the maxima has run 12s on street tires....as for how deep into the 12s...I don't know. I also know that he has run OVER a 112mph trap. How much I also don't know becuase Harold won't tell anyone exactly what he runs until he gets his slicks on and has a good day at the track this spring.

The Cobra in question was confirmed to be an '03 by Harold (turbo max owner) as they met in a parking lot (local hangout) and Harold challenged the 03 cobra to a run.

It's pretty obvious how fast the two cars are since they go from 2nd to well into 5th gear in around 20 seonds....

My mistake...I was assuming that the person who posted the clip was the one who made the run.

thanks for the info.

That is a modded 99 or 01 Cobra let remember that bolton 99 - 01 Cobra's run high 12's at close to 110MPH traps. Still a fast *** Maxima.

read this thread to find out the truth

http://www.supraforums.com/showthrea...5&pagenumber=1

Fog lights give it away and no Supercharger whine 03 Cobra has a very loud whine . By the way even the passenger that was in the Cobra during the race called out the owner of the Maxima telling him he knew it was not an 03 Cobra.

Just posting what I found so don't shoot the messager

here is a video link of a 03 on the Dyno yiou can hear what I mean about the supercharger and how loud it is. I know the hood is up but still if you have heard one at WOT in real life you would know what I mean. This is just an example.
