There are still spots open for the NASA high performance Driver education on the Mid Ohio April 4,5,6. I will be there on the 4th and 5th. Hope to see a lot of Z's out there!!
I don't know if you all are aware, but NASA is running the Pro course that weekend instead of the Club course. The only difference is that the Pro course bypasses the chicane, thus allowing you to take a lot more speed into the Keyhole...
I don't know, I've never driven Mid-Ohio... from what I've learned of Mid-Ohio, you brake really late going into the Keyhole since it's slightly uphill... I'm guessing we'd max out 4th gear pretty easily before entering T2.
I'm going to be in Columbus ohio during the weekend of this Track Day. Is there any way to come to the track to watch the event or is just for participants? I won't have my Z there I'm fling out.
Originally posted by SunsetZ That works for me. What kind of speed do you think we will be able to get our Z's up to with that layout?
The entry to the keyhole isn't the fastest point on the track. Top speed is at the end of the back straight, heading downhill after you come out of the keyhole, and just before you brake for the turn marked 4 on the map below. (There are several different numbering schemes for the turns at Mid Ohio, based on whether the chicane Hedonist mentioned is in or out.)
The Champ cars get up to 188 mph at that point. Our Zs will be slightly slower than that.
The track's Web site has a video of a lap around the course (with the chicane) here. (For some reason the driver left his radio on while driving!)
I'm looking forward to seeing you guys and running the track again. Dwnshft: it'll be great if you can be there! Will you be running the race 350Z?
