Who's going to Mid Ohio this weekend? (4-6 Apr 2003)
Hey, who's going to the NASA HPDE at Mid Ohio this weekend? I'll be there late Thursday night, and I'm registered for the event on Friday and Saturday.
Looking for some discussion on a couple questions (this is my first time going to the track):
1) What are you doing to your car before you leave your house? E.g., bleed brakes, etc.
2) What stuff are you bringing to the track? e.g., air compressor, engine oil, digital camera, etc. (I'm bringing a decent but not great digital camera.)
Thanks!

Wow, another one I see. There should be a nice collective on 350Zs there that weekend: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=23493
I recommend bleeding your brakes and replacing the fluid with some ATE Super Blue. You'll see what some of us are bringing in the link I provided above.
Recommendations for your first track event:
1) Go in with an open mind, and leave your ego behind.
2) Always listen to your instructor
3) Slow in, fast out
4) Smooth and steady, this is not an AutoX where you toss your car around, your steering input and throttle application are crucial to your cornering speeds
5) There's plenty more, but a lot of stuff you'll pick up at the track during the classroom sessions and when you speak with your instructor
6) However, the most important thing to remember is have fun!

Thanks, hedonist.
Being of the philosophy that there are no stupid questions, I have a couple:
- How do I bleed my brakes? I'm mechanically adept but don't work on cars.
- Where can I buy ATE Super Blue? What difference does it make?
That's it ...for now

ATE Super Blue has a higher boiling point than the OEM brake fluid. Bleeding the brakes isn't difficult, but I have to double check on the brake bleed order since it's supposedly different than what I'm used to. I have a feeling I'll be bleeding my brakes at the track, so maybe we can make it a 350Z brake bleeding party.
As to where you can find ATE Super Blue, I would imagine that many automotive parts stores would carry it (I'm not optimistic about cheap places like AutoZone or PepBoys), but around my area, there are several places to that sell them. Since you're from Cincinati, perhaps you should ask dwnshift since he lives there too...
