Default Hello Everybody!!!

Hi Im new here...I own a 99 Mustang GT but am looking seriously at purchasing a 350Z i love the looks and the quality(I got to sit in one at the Auto Show)

I had one race related question...what do they run 1/4 mile wise, i saw in a magazine a 14.1, but ive been told some guys are running mid - low 13's...

Thanks!

Its about as close as you can get to your GT concerning 1/4 mile...
There has been some very high 13s, but no mid to low...

The best time that has been posted here is 13.6 @ 104, about 3 weeks ago. That's the best I have seen.

With 1700 miles and a pop charger, I pulled a 13.90@ 101 with the base model with no LSD.... Not to shabby....

I don't know Jester. I've read so many messages I'm going cross-eyed! From what I can find, stock looks like mid to low 14's, with the very occassional high 13. Consistant 13's all seem to be modded to some degree. So I would have to say that stock out of the box the 350z is a "14 second car."

...well, I am at about 5300 feet of altitude so my numbers are offset, but I can also provide GT times. My best time to date is a 14.79s run (with the correction factor it would be a 13.7Xs run). My car is the base model and is completely stock. I am completely 100% sure that an Enthusiast would pull off a better time because of the LSD. Now, for bone stock late model GTs, the best time that I have seen is a 15.2Xs run. This was actually even a question posted on the biggest NM racing site and that was the number that came up as well. I heard somebody say that they thought somebody ran a high 15.1X but I can't confirm/deny. Hope those serve as good baseline numbers for you....

...acutally I checked again, and there is a guy claiming a fastest ET of 15.009s with a KN filter (don't know if it's the cone replacement or a drop in). He said he ran multiple 15.1Xs runs and his one best time. I don't think he would be lying, but there's no slip or witnesses. Also, it is not technically stock. Another guy with a new Mustang Bullit says he ran a best of 15.9s with it stock (but I also think this was in Roswell, NM, which is a much faster track). He now has a Vortech Supercharger and runs low 14s high 13s. Remember, this is all at 5300+ feet.

Welcome to the board. Basically what others have said, high 13 car if you are good at the strip (and at sea level if we are talking uncorrected times), easy low 14 second car. That time correction stuff is not a hard and fast rule, and I think his ECU updating has helped that a bit, and kind of closed that correction gap, but he is running those times nonetheless.
