Default woo hoo, kart racing school this weekend!

In addition to SEMA IAS, while visiting my wife's family in southern california next week, I will be attending the Jim Hall Kart Racing School in Oxnard Ca! Hopefully, it will help in the auto-x arena.

Jim Hall 100cc Sprint Kart Programs
Learning to race at the Jim Hall Kart Racing School begins with our Sprint Kart classes. There are several programs from which to choose, starting with half-day introductory courses. Each course prepares you for the next. Tailor your program to fine-tune your driving technique or ready you for racing in our Arrive-and-Drive Race Series.

Day 1A: A-Track, Half-Day $175
Accelerated learning curve in performance driving. Work up to racing speed with on-track and class instruction. Driving dynamics in steering, acceleration, braking and cornering. Focus on racing line. Three on-track driving sessions.

Day 1B: A-Track, Half-Day $175 ( Must be Day 1A graduate )
Extensive racing line instruction with a one-on-one instructor / student lead and follow driving session, observation and timed session. Increase your speed with practice and expert guidance. 4 on-track driving sessions.

That is where I got my start so long ago. I know all those guys so maybe I'll come out. Just tell me what day you'll be out there.

You will learn more in 1 day of that school than you will at 100 autox's.

Let me give you some pointers for going fast right away. For turn 1, you don't even need to brake in a straight line at all, just trailbraking at turn in all the way to the apex. Racing karts will hardly turn unless you are on the brakes. Exit turn 1 wide, yet sweep all the way back across for 2. There is a hill, so turn 2 is a blind, very late, apex. Use the hasharks to place your tires. Turn 3 is flat out, in fact, it's flat out after exiting 2 all the way to 4. Turn 4 is the slowest turn on the track and there is a surface change, so braking is difficult. Very easy to swap ends there, another very late apex, but 4, 5, and 6 are a rythm section. Antering turn six, you are gonna just brush the brakes, you should be back on the gas about 6 feet or so before the apex. 6 and 7 are a double apex and full throttle. this will let you naturally sweep wide back onto the front straight and set up for your next lap.

The throttle pedal in a face kart is an on off switch, you are either all the way one it, or all the way off it. Never in between.
