Played with a GTP this morning. Passed me going pretty fast on our side road, so I sped up and followed him.

Passed several cars on our way to the highway - each pass I closed in on him no problem. Hit the onramp and I had to hit the brakes. Once we hit the merging lane, we both gunned it and took it up to 180 km/h. I started off a few car lengths behind him in the merging lane (about 80 - 90 km/h) and was about a car length ahead by 180 km/h.

 

yeah its a fun little car, 2 in our family. quick, but too much wheel spin from FWD and massive torque. auto tranny could shift faster, no manual mode at all. problem is, it is truely a one hit wonder, the brakes and handling make me fear for my life. the body rolls over and plays dead on a slight turn, and Im not sure if I just have to push the pedal REALLY hard to make it stop, or if it really has **** for brakes. I dont want to find out, but Im leaning towards the latter.

but hey, its a big sedan for like 28000 that can do low 6's and can be modified easily.

 

Definitely a good bang for the buck. In some ways reminds me of my 2k2 6-spd Maxima. Lots of motor, lots of torque steer, lots of wheel spin, and so-so handling.

 

New one (Competition package) has a manumatic mode, 20 more HP, and supposedly better suspension w/bigger brakes.

Don't make a coupe, though.
