For the launch you want to come off the clutch as fast as you can without losing traction, with as much thottle as you can without losing traction. Every car is different, but start ~2500 rpm and work from there to find a good launch point. On the rest of the shifts do not slip the clutch at all. All you're doing is wasting power and eating your clutch.

very nice explanation LT1.
my additional comments: on the upshifts, you want to engage the clutch as the engine rpms fall to the correct rpm for the next higher gear, then go WOT. preserves your clutch, and if the Z's engine calibration is good, you won't have to wear out your tranny's synchros with quick shifts either.

LOL i hope the tranny doesn't go "bam!" after a while.

Julian

Can u explain a little more what u mean when u say --

Also, when u say trun of the TC u mean VDC right? I don't have any other button.

And lastly, When my limited slip light comes on exactly what does that mean?

Thanks guys!

Yes turn off your VDC. Your slip light just means that your tires have lost traction, and spun and the VDC has corrected. It also comes on if you take a tight turn and the ront tires slide. Found that out

let me try:
you're accelerating in 1st, you hit 20 mph and shift to 2nd. If 2nd gear at 20 mph is 2000 rpm (hypothetical value), then as your engine revs fall from whatever it was in 1st (say 3200) you can engage your clutch without giving any throttle input since the engine will hopefully be slightly higher than 2000 when you engage the clutch. then you hit the gas.

if you take longer to shift the lever, or if your engine revs drop too quickly (one or the other usually happens for me) you tip in slightly on the throttle so the engine doesn't engine brake the car when you engage the clutch. if you give it too much gas the revs will be much higher than 2000 rpm, so the clutch slips a bit as you engage it.

A little isn't bad, but when people talk about shifting without letting off on the throttle, I cringe.
