Why do you think it is the #3 bearing?

My #6 went out. I took some pics and saw the engine.

The M3 didn't have "sport" mode activated.

If any Z owners knew anything about the M, it's night and day between having the sport mode on and off. If the M had sport mode off basically you were running against a 330, kudos if you call that a kill.

Hey longhorn, your posts are really wordy. Must be nice to have enough time to troll the 350 forum and write a thesis for every post that has M3 and race in it.

Grow up dude. His post was full of good information that I was in fact curious about. Whats wrong with it being long? Do you have some kind of reading disorder?

All car enthusiasts are welcome here, especially ones that take the time to provide valuable information.

Wow, your posts are condescending and ignorant. Good job.

I thought most people were losing the #3? All the pics of the folks getting the engine recall done always point out that there is no visible damage on the #3. Could be wrong.

My M is on the list, I still have yet to get my recall work done. I do have one, not talking out of my *** here

02/02 production, I made the bad list by about 10 VINS.

Yeah, I didn't mean to come off as that it was ONLY the #6, just that the 4 or 5 that I know of (that BLEW UP) were the #6.

I have heard of some that have seen damage to the bearings and want a new engine as opposed to just having the recall done. Ask to see your bearings when they finish.

These S54 problems along with Bangles designs have really hurt them IMHO.

yep. I post as Longhorn over there on the E46 M3 board.

By far and away, that board is the most classy that I visit. very little trash talking or b.s. that you see on other boards.

Anyway, BMW did not "decrease the redline" or output of the engine. After what happened to Ford and Mazda for their false claims.... I doubt that you will see any car company try that crap. There are too many BMW owners who will get the dyno output and then sue. Remember, that is what the Cobra owners did when their cars wern't making the claimed 320 hp.

sean, thanx for the clearification. ya, anyone notice the coorelation between teh Ford and Mazda claims (Ford owns a lot of Mazda). Ya, I followed that story close, kind of funny really.

I totally agree, that bangle guy NEEDS to stay away from cars, I use to think BMW ALWAYS had good clean designs and was immune to designing an ugly car, I think otherwise now, SAD!!

also the S54 problem would scare the hell out of me, I love the car as one of my favorites, and use to think it was THE best car for the $$ (and still do-better than 911 performance #s, for $15-30k less than a 911, which happens to be my favorite car), BUT I don't honestly think I would buy one at this point b/c of the problems, I still like them, but I wouldn't buy one.
