Default Anyone with a TD Borla race a LS1 Yet?

How much more of an edge has the True Dual Borla given us? Since so many LS1 guys frequent this board to remind us that a stock Z shouldn't beat a LS1, I guess the LS1 is the threshold to beat. I wonder, how many more bolt ons, without FI is needed to consistantly keep up with or beat the LS1.

You are about .5-1 second behind on an LS1, so you do the math, how many bolt ons does it take you to run low 13s N/A...I dont think its been done yet...

You know what, unlike the decent LS1 fans that visit this site, and since it's your opinion that the Z isn't worth shitting on, why don't you just leave this forum instead of remaining an ***?

I don't think its that.....

....no chance if the persons head is screwed on straight.

In less than two weeks my Z33 will have The Borla exhaust and lightweight pulleys installed, to go with the Injen CAI.

I think a Z with those mods stands a pretty decent chance of besting a stock LS1! I also think (no matter what) that it will always be a driver's race. But hey, it's not like it could never happen...

I hate to break it to you guys once again, but the Z will not beat an LS1 short of FI. Sorry. One second difference in the 1/4 mile is 10 car lenghts. Ten tenths. Approx. 100 HP difference to the wheels. You need more than an exhaust and some pullies. The LS1's, once again for the people who can't remember, are putting 320 or so to the wheels (no matter what HP they are ADVERTISED at). What does the avg Z have? 230 maybe? Come on dudes. Advertised HP is a real term and it is not the same as actual HP.

edit: Furthermore, just look at jamwr6 times in his sig. 12.99 at 110 with a freakin air lid. The LS1 is fast. A Z runs right around 100 MPH. Do you have any idea what it takes to run another 10 MPH in the 1/4? A lot.

Is the stock exhaust really that restrictive on the 350Z?

True duals or not, I've never seen an NA car with a stock engine post serious gains with catbacks. The Z28 catback is acknowledged to be a bottleneck in the exhaust, but I'd be surprised if I picked up over 10rwhp going to a different catback, or maybe 15rwhp for true duals on a stock engine. We're talking increases of 3-5% here.

Besides, who keeps their LS1 f-car stock?

You know what?

I am trying to avoid a flame fest that always happens when a 350z and LS1 are involved....
I was trying to prevent comments like yours actually..
but I can see my efforts are not much use....

As for my actual comment..
It was in a joking manner, yup I am so sure the mods are going to listen to me and actually lock the thread.....

As for your original question...

As for your title why could it not have been "How much do we 350z owners gain from the Borla exhaust?"

I don't really see why you brought the LS1 into it...
If anyone believes that simply putting an exhaust on a 350z will enable you to keep up with an LS1 is dilusional....

yea yea come back with personal insults now, wait I'll do it for you.....
I know I am a redneck, I know I live in a trailor park, and I sport a mullet...
There I saved you the trouble....

Get your panties out of a twist and relax

EDIT- It's my opinion that the Z is not worth shitty on?
When exactly did I say that?
You can serch all 100+ of my post on this site and if you find even one time when I said the z was not worth shitting or anything like that then I will stand corrected....
I am not worried, cause you won't find one...

I think the Z is a great car...
Just some people on this forum think its the greatest car ......

I agree with the realists here. The Z in a straight line is going to take a lot of work to get into stock LS1 range, with equal drivers.

Intakes and exhausts only aren't going to do it, because the stock setups aren't that bad in the first place, so gains will be marginal there, not 1 second in the quarter types.

I didn't buy a Z to be a muscle car, though, so that's alright. I was tempted to wait for the GTO, but went with the Z to have a true fun sports car with better handling and smaller size. Then I've got the Syclone in the garage if I want to push myself back into the seat

Stock for stock, the Z will do fine against a GTO. You're talking about a car that's a few hundred punds heavier than an f-car in USDM trim and will probably put down less power at the rear wheels due to the IRS (I don't care what GM's marketing department says). The GTO will be a high 13 second/low 14 second car, just like the 350Z.

Now, put some headers on the GTO and slap in a new cam and it'll put down 400rwhp just like its C5 and f-body LS1-powered brethren. All bets are off once you start modding the GTO.

Gee, why is that? There are quite a few LS1 fans on this site whose opinion I respect. Infact, I've never had a problem with a Vette/Camaro/TA fan because I like American muscle cars. Lately, I've been checking out whose naughty and whose nice. Guess what, you're on the wrong list.

As for my actual comment..

Had no idea so you were so tight with the mods. They do whatever you want eh?

As for your original question...

Because it's my post and I'll post like I want. Not like how you want.

I don't really see why you brought the LS1 into it...

I brought in the LS1 because it's a bad engine in a bad *** car. And, I never said putting on just an exhaust would result in a consistant keep up with a LS1. But, never mind, you don't read posts, you just like making snide comments.

yea yea come back with personal insults now, wait I'll do it for you.....

I've never said any of the above about any LS1/Stang fan. Ever. Do a search. As a matter of fact, you're the first LS1 fan I've ever called an ***. Hey, if the shoe fits....

Get your panties out of a twist and relax

Heh, wrong thread, the thong v. panties thread is out there but you would never know since there is only one portion of this forum you ever frequent. So, what do you prefer? Me, I like panties with an occasional thong.

You know, you're right. You never said that on this forum. Sometimes, you just got to open your eyes and look. When you do, you find a lot about a person.

What do LS1's put down to the wheels, isn't it 330-340hp?

However, despite the weight disadvantage.....which isn't a whole lot..... they are using 3.43 gears in the rear(A4 and M6) as well as the transmission gearing from the Z06 (geared much lower). Also I think they are using a cam geared for more low end.

Their main goal was to make the car like the old GTOs.....street terrors and powerful and quick down low.
I think it will be VERY quick down low...
I expect mid 13s @ 105 in the hands of a competent driver.

Of course if they put the 400HP LS6 in there for 05 all hell will break loose.

Its a badass car which I'm waiting enthusiastically to see.
Check this out.....badass introduction. Go to vehicles and then to upcoming vehicles and GTO....they have sound clips and a lot of good info.

In this month's Motor Trend there is a test of a Greddy 350Z. It has twin turbos, puts out 350 hp, and does 0-60 in 4.6 and the quarter in 12.7 at 106 mph. So to answer your question, it takes about 340+ hp and F/I for the 350Z to take out an LS-1.

Nope. The Camaro Z-28, Camaro SS, and Trans Am WS-6 all have the LS-1 V-8. The LS-6 is only in the Corvette Z06. And the Firebird Formula also has an LS-1 (or it's an option? Something like that, but I know it's available in the Formula).
