he cant... he posted in the NA Build Forum so he is commited to run NA only for the life of the car. I'm pretty sure the NA gawds will blow up the car if he ever tries to boost it.

Just the price to pay if NA

after browsing the hybrid-z thread, with respect to your intake-tb issue, if you could take the time, put forth the effort and have the hood clearance, I would try to do a forward mount intake manifold (think ls-1/2).

just a thought thats all, it would be a cleaner setup and very unique for a VQ

Everything definately clears the hood

Ive thought of fabbing an upper manifold to make the TB on the front of the engine but the only thing detering me from doing so is that I dont have a TIG welder.

Now that you mentioned it i'm giving it more thought and I agree it would would MUCH cleaner.

A little Tech info request: is the upper part of the intake manifold taller towards the rear only for hood clearence, or is it designed like that to draw in air a certain way?

Also, can I get away with not using the center bolts on the upper intake manifold and just using the outside bolts that suuround the manifold?

There is no specific designation to identify which model of VQ35DE is what. You can tell by looking at the timing cover.

I believe the intake is designed that way for clearance of the stock front strut tower bar. Many companies sell modified plenums or plenum spacers to get a better distribution of air across the cylinders.
I've never run my plenum without the center bolts so I can't say whether or not you can run without them.

Looks like a badass build-Congrats and keep us posted on your progress! Should be a great HP/WT ration and a nice weight distribution with the placement of the motor.

Update: All the technical info can be found on my original HybridZ thread.

Shifter relocation and gas pedal

Modded steering shaft

2.5 to 3'' mandrel exhaust. Borla XS or XR-1 muffler coming soon.

Decided to go with the cowl air box. Also, the engine bay is now painted.

All is left is the driveshaft, fuel plumbing and some wiring. Stay tuned!

Man great work. Am I blind or do I not see any flex pieces in the exhaust? Wont that cause some problems?

Edit: Haha I just noticed no muffler, that **** is going to sound so sick and LOUD!

Thanks guys.

The engine is pretty much solid mounted so no need for any flex pipes in the exhaust system.

Still don't know if i'm going to run a straight pipe. If not a Borla will be welded on.

everythings looking good as usual, are you going to have just one filter or two (one on each side)?

I know you mentioned it was a solid mount engine and such, but I would suggest maybe one more flange somewhere, maybe after the merge pipes. Just some advice from someone who had to help a friend break down his exhaust on the side of the road due to a crack. if it had one more flange where it should have, it would have been easier to dismantle.
