Yea that guy is fast, also a good friend of mine. The car makes about 240whp though he wont tell me the real number lol. Its a powered by a K20 I think...but he also has 20 years of racing experience too!

Well the first race of the 2011 NASA season is this weekend at HMS and im excited. We are going to have the OS Giken LSD in for this event so hopefully I can relearn the car in practice and qualifying in time for the race. There are 3 cars in class this weekend, so hopefully I can take both wins and pick up two free Hoosiers tires under the contingency program. After this event, we are off til March at Road Atlanta. I will run several practice days in between since we will be adding a rear wing and front splitter that we will need to dial in. Updates and video to come!

Another 350Z and a Lotus Elise...I am the third. They are actually PTB cars but are running in PTA so that there are tires up for grabs. I bump into PTA barely at the moment so it will be fun. The other Z is a great friend of mine, been running with him for 4 years now. He makes about 25 whp less than me but has full aero. Once I do all my aero, I will be maxed in PTA.

Just got unloaded from a great season opener at HMS with NASA FL. Took both wins in the sprint races in PTA. Also got my sick trophy for the 2010 PTA championship, as well as a free Hoosier tire for my win Saturday!

The car ran ok, we discovered a fuel leak Thursday where the header had caused a fitting to warp overtime and the oring to no longer seal. Once we got that repaired, we moved on to install the OS Giken LSD. I made the mistake of not ordering the carrier bearings, and they did not want to tear it down to install it without having new ones since they said they can damage them when removed. Nissan didnt have any til Tuesday, so rather than risk not having the car for the weekend, we went without it.

The racing was good, clean starts and laps. Sometime during qualifying Saturday however, my VLSD died on me. I started spinning the inside wheel like crazy in almost every turn and couldnt put power down to save my life. Lap times were 2 seconds of my best there so that sucked but still was able to take both wins. With all the tire spin, I had a 1 inch spot on the right rear that had steel showing. We flipped it at the track side tire service, and rotated all the tires. After the race today, that same tire was fully corded on the inside shoulder so it made bringing the car to a stop a little more difficult.

Next NASA event isnt for 9 weeks, and the car is heading to Japtrix tomorrow morning to get a long list of parts and upgrades to take on the rest of the season. I talked to several racers over the weekend and Performance Touring should be sweet going forward. Already have verbal commits on 4-5 cars in class for March at HMS.

I am pretty sure from what he said earlier that he is pretty well maxed out on points for PTA with aero and the diff....

Yep that is about all I have points for, but it should give me a lot of time back. After that, its all seat time.

Not sure if you care, but for reference SCCA was at Sebring this weekend. Quick times for 350z's in t2 and t3 were:

T2: Kleeman 2:25.9
T3: Steinhoff 2:31.1

That T2 time is absurdly fast considering pole for T1 was a 2:21.8.

On the VLSD I absolutely obliterated rear tires....a whole lot of one tire fires.

Also forgot to mention Steinhoff qualified at 2:27:2 for the T2 race, but he only qualifies in one session per class instead of the two that Kleeman and others do. He also collected both wins I believe in T3!

SCCA was at Homestead this weekend....Steinhoff ran 1:34:0 in qualifying as best I can tell, but I don't know whether that was T2 or T3......I would assume T3 though.

I think that OSG diff is going to make a world of difference for you.

Edit:
He ran a 1:32.3 in T2 and 1:34:0 in T3.

I'll leave this in here because I know they are tracks you frequent and it goes with the sebring convo....

Some of Brian Kleeman's videos from Sebring....some good battles with the other two 350z's in class as well:

In car hot lap:

I think both he and Bill S are members here...I wish they would post more.

Not much to update yet but alot of things are in motion. Wing and splitter package are being built and should arrive in 2 weeks from Fulcrum Aeroworks. Dampers were sent out to JIC for revalving for stiffer springs, rates to be determined. OS Giken LSD and SPL solid rear diff mount are going in right now. Other little things like fresh rotors, pads, tires are also on deck. Pics of the aero install to come! The plan is to run an event or two before the March NASA event at HMS. Now that I am an instructor with most clubs, hard to beat free track time for practice.

I'm sure the Fulcrum guys are gonna do it right but just a reminder of getting the splitter bracing wrong...

This is what the APR splitter does to a Z bumper at 160.
