Most of the differences are internal on the HR compared to the DE.
All they really did were engine internal changes IIRC.
Things like, lengthened, pressure-cast connecting rods for reduction of piston side forces.
Also, the asymetrical piston skirt configuration for weight and friction reduction, and to allow the higher revs. And the 10.6:1 CR with the new piston design and DLC coating.

So I think you should be fine, anyone else confirm?

HR headers are different than DE headers. I'm not sure what exactly is different between both since I haven't had the opportunity to hold them side by side but their is a reason why manufacturers don't just make one set of headers for both motors.

They are most defiantly different, but they should still bolt up to a DE. Just might take some custom work as far as the rest of the exhaust to fit right. Nothing a good muffler/exhaust shop can't take care of.

Then the answer would be that they don't fit.

If it bolts up but if there are problems with fitment around the steering, suspension or exhaust components then they don't fit.

Correct, without ANY modification...they won't bolt right up to your exhaust.

But it shouldn't be very hard for an exhaust shop to get them to fit.

It's been said that if you use an HR test pipe/cat with an HR header, and same with using a DE header and DE header on an HR, should work. Key word being should. I have not tried it, nor do I know anyone personally know anyone who has tried it, so I can't say if it's true or not. I've seen a couple posts by people claiming they did it, but I've never seen anything substantial enough to draw a conclusion.

I would not go so far as to say "it shouldn't be difficult" - no one knows how difficult, or not difficult, it is, and everyone's version of difficult varies, as does the experience level of their respective installer.

Very true on the "everyone's version of difficulty"
