4.15L NA VQ Engine Build with Rebello and Zcargarge
#288
Thanks everyone for the nice compliments!
Taking small steps, but everything is moving forward and nothing to complain about.
-Car still burns oil but Zcar has an idea on how to fix this.
-Dipstick's seal was busted on Friday and spat out 3/4qt all over the place. Got a replacement one and everything is fine now. Probably related to the constant oil checking.
-Most likely will replace the cranshaft pulley with something else.
-Looks like I've been having too much fun and my rear tires are completely gone. Slick as a baby's butt. Contemplating switching out to 18" or getting new tires for the 20"...
-New clutch will be going in on Wednesday. Thinking about switching my aluminum Unorthodox FW to a steel Southbend one for better drivability/launch...but that's another $500
-New bearings for the differential going in on Thursday to fix that old problem I had before this build when I got the LSD/FD installed.
Hopefully break-in everything just in time for the drag on June 2nd!

Got the DXD-B installed last night with my old Unorthodox Flywheel and by far the best clutch I've ever tried.
+ Daily drivability is just as good as OEM and better way better than the OFE stage3. This was a big concern of mine going to a 6 pucks design since I still drive my car on the road.
+ I haven't pushed it (500 miles breakin) yet but it is noticeably different, in a positive way, when grabbing.
+ Shifting is much more predictable and consistent.

Another update to complete this week, which was kinda interesting for the car.
- Driving on the highway the other day my under shroud got semi ripped off and dragged for a good 10minutes. Thought I blew out my tires.
- Filling the car up on the same day I noticed that my front passenger wheel was heavily cambered. Took a look at the camber arm and a bolt on my SPL A-arm was missing and all of the adjusting shims were gone and the wheel wobbles like mad. Hopefully I can get those parts from SPL.
- Zcar did some modifications to the crankcase ventilation system in hopes to fix the oil consumption issue. We'll see next week if it helps.
- My diff was opened up to fix the howling sound coming from it and the new bearings were worn and really heated so new ones will go in but the job wasn't completed because the correct shims were not readily available. Luckily the ring and pinion were not damaged at all.
All in all kind of a bummy week for the car other than the new clutch performing well, but sadly I won't be able to make it out to the drag next week. Anyways, that didn't stop me from buying the remaining parts to slowly complete the car.
- Aluminum shroud to replace the damaged one.

- Wedsports SA-55M in MGM color 18"x9"(+20) and 18"x10"(+18). Still debating on what size tires to get though (245-40-18 & 295-35-18) or (245-40-18 & 275-40-18) on Nitto NT05s.

If you are set on the NT05s, I think you could run the 265/35 in the front coupled with the 285 or 295/35 rear. There are other extreme summer performance tires that you could consider, but I don't see any in the right sizes. You could, however, consider the Toyo series of tires, like the R888 which gives awesome grip and comes in good sizes.
