Default Socal Rev-up NA motor build

As some of you have heard I'm in the process of a NA motor build. So i guess ill share my build i don't have pics yet but ill take some as soon as i can. i recently just blew my 05 rev-up motor due to oil consumption.

The motor was tore down and inspected. We found a melted piston and most of the bearings were destroyed. so from that moment we had to find out if the block was save-able for a rebuild, after long inspection and a little cleaning up i found out it could be saved!!

So being a month in to the project here is my build list!!

-Cosworth Forged Piston Set 96mm Bore 11:1 comp
-Scat rods
-Cosworth High Performance Head Gaskets
-ACL Race Main Bearings
-ACL Race Rod Bearings
-ACL Race Thrust Washers
-ARP 12 Point Head Stud Kit
-ARP Main Stud Kit
-Brian Crower Valve Spring Retainer Kit
-Cosworth "Rev up" ZK1 Cams -Intake 268deg. 10.4mm lift / Exhaust 268deg. 9.5mm lift

All work is being done by Brandon and James at SMS European Service.
Great guys not only do they know euros they are very familiar with Imports and have been working on my car since i bought it.

Cant wait to have it back on the road!

Good luck. What are using for a manifold, engine management and are you doing any headwork?

Good luck! I'm interested to see how it goes. I will probably be doing something very similar when my motor goes.

Those cams seem mild. And just a thought, what about having the stock rods balanced instead of buying new ones?

Yes they are mild mostly because of the strict CA emission laws and law enforcement is a pain around where I live. With the rods from the research that I have done the rods I've heard are a pretty weak link in the vq so I didn't want to risk it so I just upgraded.

The VQ's rods are pretty good, it was the rod bolts that were the question mark (mostly on non-rev-ups). But I agree with ya on replacing them, especially of a motor that was blown/spun. I would imagine you budgeted in a balancing of the rotating assembly, if not I would suggest you look into it. Makes a big difference in how the motor spins up (smoothly). I don't think the ZK1's will be any problem, they should make plenty of power.
