Is it possible to get the same gains out of a vq30 maxima?

There has been a VQ30 in a light weight 4th gen with cams and headwork run a 12.6@108, but they can very easily VQ35 swap (no fabrication required). Simple bolt-in affair.

Interesting! Do the Vq35 cams & valvetrain fit in the Vq30 (I can get a set of Nismo cams cheap in a few weeks)? There is a 5sp 01 max for sale locally that I'm interested in.

Yep they sure do, with some cam adapters that are cheap. Not 100% sure on the valvetrain, but I think i've seen people using HR springs/shims in VQ30 heads.

The 00-01 has one of the best stock intake manifolds out there...

I don't say this much, but this is pretty impressive. Given your mods, power, and weight, it looks like you're doing pretty well. Can't wait to see how you do with some weight reduction.

BTW, I like how you just kept going with the Mustang dancing all over the place in the lane next to you.

Thanks a lot for the props, it's come a long way since running 14.3@96 stock 2 years ago. I might have to move over to the Z dark side sometime in the next couple of years for a F/I or nitrous car... Getting that RWD itch. This maxima is staying NA in the mean time.

Haha everybody commented on that at the track, that was my second run and a 2 tenth improvement on the run vs the G35, so when people started trickling over to the lanes most were telling me something along the lines of "you were in such a hurry to escape that mustang, you drove even faster!"

This was my exact thought as well. I would've done the same. I'm not aborting a run, f that.

It would be nice if you came over to the Z community and did some custom work like this as well.

Just a word of advice stay away from the 00-01's and get you a 95-98 and swap the motor.

Lower redline, slightly smaller cams, and harder to tune for, but the body style and intake manifold are desirable.

A year or so back, I posted a VQ30 dyno that pulled an impressive 270whp from a few simple bolt ons (and a 7700rpm redline) by dandymax? I believe. The power was there, the torque...not so much.

I would love to go with a standalone that can deal with dual throttle bodies and make a twin plenum design for a Z.

Ah it wasn't just a few boltons. It was every bolton available and cams + EU tune.

Yes to 3.5 springs/retainers working on 3.0 heads.

Same redline, miniscule less duration on the exhaust cams, no difference in tuning, stock ecu processor is actually faster, cooling flow through heads/block is a touch better, but the body is a pig (as in weight). I'll agree with you on the intake manifold. 95 gxe's is where it's at though- no sunroof, stick, & manual cloth is under 2,900 lb's!

Yup it was dandymax, but he took all his dyno's down, all I have been able to find is thumbnails on google

I don't know if I would consider cams, an oil pump, and pioneering the EU on a 4th gen as simple bolt-ons though, he also has A LOT of tuning into that car, I'm pretty sure that everything is portmatched & casting flaws removed also but I'm not 100% on that.

I'd love to know what Jime's 3.5 is pushing NA, he has v-manage & alot of time into tuning, just so damn secretive

Oh & Sparks, congratulations again, that dyno is my new desktop background.

Haha mine too! Hopefully we'll get a new one here in a few weeks to a couple of months when I hit it again with cams, Vmanage and spend some serious time tuning. Would love to see not just a peak over 300, but a plateau. Maybe just wishful thinking.
