Now that's a breakthrough.

Congrats guys. That build is just pure sex. Love the sound!

Why didn't you port the heads?

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Here's a video from a regional race we just won at Mosport, where Kels is now in the unlimited class against some very heavy machinery:

I've written some more details about the build and the run up to these races on my blog, you can read about it all here:

Incredible. The sound of a VQ at 8500+rpm will forever haunt my dreams now until I own one. That sound is beyond epic.

I would never have guessed that you'd get the sound of the universe being torn to shreds from an HRZ, congratulations on a great build.

I just had Gord Bush port the Jenvey ITBs from 51mm to 53.5mm. They have a large taper, so the diameter at the engine side was only 46 - now closer to 49. Dyno testing to come after SEMA. Hopefully it makes a bit of power!

For your reference, there are some big power Honda K-series guys running closer to 60mm Kinsler ITB's with similar cylinder displacements.

You had the smaller kit for the VQ, correct? I know the standard is 51mm on their website (what I picked up), but I thought you and the guy w the VQ swapped sentra had that smaller kit (~45-46mm).

Very impressive. It sounds frantic at 9k RPM.

Good video.

I'm not so happy with all the haters that are commenting, though. I guess those people are close-minded and can never be happy about a person's accomplishments.

Those are friends of the guy that was driving the Cosworth. They came over after I won the first race and were pretty mad at me for "wiggling" down the straight-away. Mosport's back straight has a number of "kinks" and he felt my line was less than predicable and was frustrated that he had to breathe the throttle to decide where and how to pass me. It's racing, not a lapping day!

Some more updates for you folks.

Carbon airboxes under-way:

3D printed trumpets thanks to JWT, these will be used to test shorter intake lengths and are shaped as such to prevent shrouding by the airbox walls:

Also had Gord Bush port the Jenvey throttles from 51mm to ~54mm. This, shortening the headers and shortening the intake length should help move the power up. Dyno testing in a few weeks to find out for sure.

I also had Burns Stainless run a simulation on the ideal exhaust system dimensions, and the main difference now that we are running a 3.7L up to 9000rpm (as opposed to a 3.5 to 7200rpm), is that we will want to shorten the primaries (as expected) and step the y-pipes up from 2.5" to 2.75". That will be an interesting test!

We are also working on some more carbon parts. Roof skin and dash panels for now:

Congrats sasha, hope you start making performance parts for the hr z again. I would definitely support your innovation.

Epic. Can't wait to see the results from the new engine revisements Burn's suggest a 2.75" Y-pipe for your new set-up....I take it they don't think the 3.5" single exhaust will result in any type of restriction then (since the overall area would be much less)?

Btw, do you have any plans on selling the carbon roof skins and dash panels to the public???
