What EXACTLY is the problem when trying to go with a bigger throttle body?

I have been reading and doing a lot of research on jdm Zs as most of the tuning companies there have some badass ones, one thing to notice is that only 3 that I know of are running a bigger tb and those cars are full track cars modified beyond what most people would do. So in the end what's the point? Nismo had a prototype on there car and only gained a few ponies, so did Mine's. Tomei has a modified one on there car but they also run 13:1 compression and have a lot into the engine. On the topic of afr one company did make a double tb manifold and split the signal for maf and tb into 2, they had fueling issues and they corrected by adding bigger injectors.

I may have to be the guinea pig here.

My engine is cammed, higher compression 11:1, ported heads, matching valve springs, full lenght headers, no cats exhaust, and custom intake for 90mm tb.

First I will try to get it running with the stock tb, then switch to the gm 90mm tb, then try some bigger injectors, and maybe an adjustable fuel reg, and up the pressure just a bit at a time.

Well godspeed, and report back. I don't see any big gains coming from it but maybe we will be surprised, what kind of manifold setup are you running?

I custom built the stock intake.

^Ok, so basically you modified the throat on the stock upper manifold? I really want to see what a properly set up manifold could do, maybe one like the kinetix but with better tech involved. What are you revving to, If you don't mind me asking?

I plan to hit 7200 rpms with my setup IF I can get it tuned. Its a 5 speed auto which is going to be a problem for most aftermarket tuning setups.

My car isn't a Z , which is why I have been a little reluctant to show my intake, so please turn the flames down low....lol.

I also did a lot of modding to the inside of the intake so the air should transition better into the runners. [not pictured, sorry]

Ok, that makes a bit more sense now. That is the Maxima/Altima manifold right? It would seem that your manifold is easier to modify than ours.

Correct. I will also add that since I don't own a Tig welder I used "Muggy Weld", which is basically a metal rod, and some type of flux.

So, if you don't have a $$$$ tig, and need to weld cast aluminum then check it out.
