Engine work before looks

 

Jeff, thanks alot. That definatley gives me some direction.

 

The issue is if you know what you want to do with the engine ie FI, NA etc. If you do, then are the products availible ie CAMS or FI kit.

When I wrote this thread, my suggestion to mod engine last was based on many products not being availible at the time of writing.

I still think it is best (my opinion only) to do the engine later, after break in and after you have had the chance to track your Z and know its capabilities.

Thank you for the compliment on this thread. I am working on articles in SportZ magazine now that are in greater detail. I hope these articles assist Z owners in enchancing their Z's to meet their needs.

If you have not checked it our yet, look at the SportZ magazine - Spring 2004 issue. I worked on an article on Supercharger kits for the Z. If you are looking for lots of HP, these kits might be a solution.

You have observed this much over a year...and still haven't realized that NOS is a brand made by Holley, and that you can use NOS if it is used as 'a' NOS' (A Nitrous Oxide System). Just observing...

Hey Jeff, my name is Kevin and I was VERY impressed with this incredibly insightful post!!! I've been interested in tuning and modifying cars for about 4 years now, but never have I seen anything this detailed and extensive put together at one time!
Now for my question...I'm moving to Germany in December and am interested in purchasing a 350z. I'll still be looking to purchase all my upgrade parts from the US though and that's why I was wondering if you knew of any differences between a European Z and a US z...specifically in the Engine/Drivetrain areas?!?
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated, seeing how I haven't the slightest clue myself!

I am not sure of engine differneces. I know the Japanese version is tuned for higher octane and Euro version as different suspension that prevents harsh ride. Maybe you can create a new thread asking this queston to all forum members. I am sure someone from Europe post here and would know that answer.
